Thread regarding FactSet Research Systems Inc. layoffs

A suspicious post was posted yesterday evening by ELT (most likely).

Long story short, defending cuts and layoffs, bragging about people who can't be employed after getting laid off, and the next round of layoffs which might happen around Dec. After huge backlash, the post was taken down.

@19a yes, they gave me 2 weeks for each year I worked at Factset + 30 days pay + bonus. But I heard not everyone got bonus payment so not sure how they determined that. I was a top performer on my team and my ex manager also reached out to me to join another team. I wouldn’t recommend joining/rejoining Factset to anyone

@qv Does anyone know what the severence package was in June? Was there a flat number of weeks per year (min weeks/max weeks)? Want to know if it worth it to stick around and hope for the next package. Otherwise, I’m ready to look for a new job.

@qv that’s amazing - most of which will be laid off will feel sad in the moment only to realize it was the push they needed to right their worth in the market- change is not easy and the market is scary but seeing post like this should help people realize what to come is a gift when they look back.

Jokes on them, I was laid off in June and am already employed with a higher pay. The layoff felt more like a free vacation with the severance and advance bonus payment haha

treat it as useful signal about the current leadership culture and your own risk profile. strong performers still leave environments like this, and remaining people recalibrate their effort and loyalty accordingly and decide how much emotional energy you want to invest in a place that communicates this way.

@bg

You are correct. That’s awful. And should be condemned. It’s the losing snacks/ lunch complaining that leads to loss of credibility.

@ag defending everything, belittling employees and the people who got laid off. Just imagine people who got laid off when they were on vacation, or paternity and maternity leave without any info. It's just an inhumane thing to do.

It signals that leadership views employees as disposable inputs whose post-exit struggles are somehow a point of pride or proof of rigor. their culture is taking over the entire company since the new ceo.

I really hope it wasn’t one of the ELT, because if it was it was the most unprofessional thing I’ve ever read.
