For those who were given a choice to either relocate to a core market or be laid off, how much time did they give you to decide? If at the end of that time you chose layoff did they put you on working. ktice right away or what the time they gave you to decide considered working notice and you severance kicked in right away?
I've heard that if you choose relo they give you a year to actually move, is that still the case or does it vary for each info?
If you chose to relocate and eventually don't, I know they will just fire you at that point and no severance, while this decision is personal do you think it's best to keep working putting in the bare minimum and try to find a new job on the side or to just take the severance and spend 100% of time looking for a new job, especially if your severance period is similar in length to the amount of time to relocate? Do companies these days tend to treat applicants differently that are currently employed vs not. even if the reason for being laid off is location strategy?
Lastly, if one decides to relocate are they allowed to still look for internal opportunities in their current region?
