Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

NOT YOUR ORDINARY RETAIL JOB

"Not your ordinary retail job" That is what our NOW HIRING sign says on the door. It should be required to include a disclaimer.

***Warning: Job will cause undue stress. Hours, staffing and commissions are subject to change monthly. Be prepared to be overwhelmed by system issues and promo changes. You will be asked to do the job of 3 people within your 24/32 hour shift and nothing will ever be good enough. Plus, while you work under staffed you will be judged through an unfair survey system that will reduce your pay by the same customers that were made to stand around and wait building up rage. Leadership provides kool-aide and unlimited woke virture signaling. Gamers welcome.

Our part time employees sales metrics are horrible. Guess Verizon paid for order takers and now we have order takers. Our stock is going to tank in the busy season. T-mobile and AT&T are going to eat our lunch. I give it till the end of June. If we don't start hiring FT reps then assume crash positions.

@1lrk+1bhZrbEU. To About you guy. Learn how to properly use commas.

We are giving feedback and sharing options on this site regarding our daily job without Verizon tracking us. Believe it or not these words matter and have influenced change. If you are happy then go do some volunteer work or plant a tree.

So tech dude. You have 4500 wfh tech jobs for us? If life is so great then then why are you on off layoffs... keep your mouth shut and go back to your $99 Staples chair and $50 internet pkg. We have issues that impact our families.... you're still trying to figure out how to take calls from the bathroom.

@qnb+1bhZrbEU, dude just look in the job search option in About You. All you grown-a-s people do on this page, is cry and complain. If you don't like retail, then apply for another position. If you hate Verizon, then quit. It's true that the executives make sucky decisions, but sh---y employees that only know how to complain, also contribute to the negative experience as a Verizon employee.

I am part of the WFH Tech Coordinator team. If retail is so bad, apply for WFH. I was in retail for 6 years and have been in care for 3 years now. We have not gotten our hours cut, Verizon pays you $50 each month for home internet, and now they are providing a desk and chair from Staples. There are options people, stop being such cry babies.

Yup. Dual store shuffle is another human experiment. No reason to flip flop employees. Did some software company say look what else you can do with this scheduling tool. And you said wow that's a good idea! Bo-m. You are d-mb. Other than vacations or call offs stop the inanity!!! Stop mistreating your retail employees. This is not a popular or needed action... do you need a survey to figure this out?

Someone at the top in VZW needs to get the boot. We don’t need part-timers and we don’t need to be experimenting with stores hours. We have all the data we need and we can already see the trends. I don’t know why it’s so difficult at the top. Even our directors are saying they don’t like or agree with any of these changes.

Post ID: @rwj+1bhZrbEU : there’s nothing like pulling up in the morning wondering who is working with you. Wondering if you have to unlock the doors. My favorite is pulling up, seeing your coworker’s car, going inside and they drive off because they were “just eating breakfast in their car” meanwhile you are standing there alone in the store and your manager pulls up.

It’s incredibly sad. Why do they even bother with the stores… no leadership, specialists who have never closed having to close alone with no manager, not knowing who is on the schedule, can’t request time off…

Truly an embarrassment to work here and be told to be thankful by leadership…

Verizon thought they could trick people into believing it was a full time position by saying it was a full time 32 hour position. They tried to spin reality. Really they should have just said it was a 8-12 round/day first person seller with turn based movement.

They're already pressuring all the currently employed part-timers to switch to full-time

No one in leadership will admit their directional mistake with store staffing. Yet this is the single largest reason we lose customers daily. They may open PT positions but true full time openings would be like an admission or error. Enron just called they said thanks for making them look good.

New tabletop sign says "Build your career here" That is a joke... they want cheap expendable college/gamer labor that can be replaced yearly. They want seasonal help. Guess as long as your career aspirations include part time work and living in a van down by the river then it's a perfect fit. Ha. It says "competitive" commissions when it should read "compromised" commissions. The flexible hours and rolls are based on VZW not employee. Maybe a disclosure on this part too?

All my co workers had the same exact thought when we saw it up. Everyone in my store said... “no one is gonna want to apply to a part time job in this area”. In my area a part time job won’t pay the bills or even rent, being in a big city.
