Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

A warning for call center employees

You can be fired at any moment, and managers will pull the trigger if they feel so based on the metrics they have access to.

This happened to me on Wednesday...

It was a quick conversation...

she told me that my metrics were not good and that she had no other options. No emotions.

I was planning to leave on 8/15 anyway, as I am starting full-time school (and she did not know this, my peers do not know this, etc.), so I am not that upset.

I am just sharing the experience with people who are maybe just joining and want to tell them that they need to be careful and pay attention to this possibility.

I heard The remote workers from the Mortgage Call Centers in California will all be gone within the next 60 days. It’s going to be a big shake up.

That's horrible B if they didn't give your accountability time to correct itself coming back from fmla. Really horrible. I feel bad for you and OP. With adherence & accountability, the company makes it difficult to stay way above a meeting or above. Example, they changed rules in their favor to no exceptions can be entered if you miss under 30 minutes off of the phone. Then that can mess up your accountability metric with relentless system issues, forced restart, having to use the bot for certain elongated functions, etc. I've known people terminated for too many occurrences in a 6-12 month period. (Tardies & unplanned/unscheduled pto, etc.). I've seen two people terminated for aht here. One didn't need to work anyway and just stayed at home. The other found a better job at the Federal reserve. I'm sure we'll be seeing alot of people fired without even so much as a PIP. That way they won't have to pay people severance. I'm sure the EEOC and your state's employment commission will see right through a good employee being terminated out of the blue with rampant layoffs occurring. That's going to be more of a reflection on the company than the good employee. The EEOC and employment commission offices have probably seen this trend with WFB over time and currently. God help us all.

b,
If you were let go for Accountability, you would have never made it when it was based on Adherence, which some companies use instead. Also, the bank is very careful about fmla agent terminations because they don't want to get sued. Call center work probably isn't your strong suit... you might want to work on being better about following up on your reported absences at your next job. I truly say this as someone who is trying to help your future, not slam your prior actions. Good luck to you

You're right, imo, especially for the ones closing sadly.

Yeah, call centers will likely be hit hard with layoffs anyway and the reduce severance costs they will probably be militant about 'firing for performance'.
