Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

There will be no requirement to get vaccinated, that's not happening unless the federal government passes some kind of law and is able to word it in such a way that it survives legal challenges. Pretty unlikely. What I find eye-rolling is the number of people that consider it an unacceptable risk to go to the office...and yet they go to the grocery store or Walmart every week. You think those places aren't even higher risk? Or, here's a fun one, a hospital, even during non-COVID times is a hotbed of deadly infections...but you still go there. Funny, the only place people seem to be unwilling to go is where they WORK.

The reality of the situation is that even if no one wore masks and no one distanced, if you're under the age of 55 or so your drive to the office is the riskiest thing you will do all day, and no one ever said that was a risk they wouldn't tolerate. People's risk tolerance seems to have very little to do with actually risk, and more an aversion to work.

The current operating model was always temporary. Some roles could certainly remain remote indefinitely, but with others it's hurting productivity / efficiency / collaboration. We've had some people that have essentially had a year off, with pay. That's clearly not sustainable. The reality of the situation, which has been the case since day 1 of COVID, is that our options aren't "be safe or a bunch of people die", it's been "be as safe as you can, understanding that disease will k–l some, or we ALL die via economic s–c-de". There was never a 'good' option. We need to start acting like adults that recognize it for what it is. This isn't a children's book where everything turns out ok. This is nature. It's merciless, and always has been, we just get lulled into complacency during times of relative calm.

I agree with the one poster, I also plan on getting the vaccine. I feel people who dont get it want to keep the pandemic alive, but I dont want to work with them either.

You do realize no one, including health professionals, knows how long the vaccination lasts, how effective it is with these new variants, etc. Now we hear that the outgoing administration has lied to us for months about the so called stockpile.

My spouse is one of those health professionals so I am not just regurgitating what the TV says with whatever agenda they have.

What else has this administration lied about? I’m sure we will find out the next few months as the new one finds out the dumpster fire they inherited.

So don’t expect to be back to work in the office in 2021.

No company will require an experimental vaccine because this would open them up to legal issues later on if people who take the vaccine develop health problems. This is why the US military will not require this vaccine either they consider it irrelevant or the VA does not want to deal with the health issues down the road.

If you don't get the vaccine you can be fired as it is at will employment.you can be let go for any reason. Honestly I plan on getting it and if you don't I don't want to work by or with you . You will put everyone at risk and you get sick everyone will have to be quarantined and/ or take your assignments.

I ordered the kit, but mainly for the free thermometer.

Vaccine is 95% effective at preventing the recipient of the vaccine from GETTING covid. That is cold, hard data from clinical trials.

It is not known yet whether someone who is vaccinated can still transmit the covid. That is usually also tested in trials but takes much, much longer - that is one of the things that got sacrificed in the accelerated development.

So if you don't take the vaccine and think you're protected because everyone around you took it - that's not known.

To the comments about mandatory vaccines... there are already plenty examples of how people can and are mandated to take a vaccine for polio, MMR, etc ... public school enrollment, college registration, etc. There are some exceptions granted but few. So to say that a company cannot require it, or government cannot mandate it... yes, they cannot hold you down and force-vaccinate you. But they can deny you things that you want - schooling, education, a job.

On the topic of going back, I work in a building with many thousands. Currently they are allowing 3 people on an elevator at one time. Rough math tells me that it would take at least a few hours to get everyone upstairs in the morning. And don't go down for a cup of coffee or you're out till lunch...I don't see how WF can get around the elevator issues.

The kit I feel is a waste of money so I never ordered it. If you are in a building with a large number of people eight hours a day you will catch any type of sickness just because modern buildings are tight to air movement. This is mainly how the virus spreads. Simple solution is let the ones who want to work in an office environment go back and allow the others to stay at home if it's their preference.

There is NO scientific fact in what you are saying. They do not know if catching COVID after the vaccination will get you a mild case, or less of a chance of dying. That may be what you want to happen, but the bottom line is you - nor they - really know. They don't even know how long the vaccine will last in the body yet.

Whoever believes that not going back to the office is their choice, you will be surprised. It will happen and it will happen across banking. If you dont like it, you can find a job elsewhere that may satisfy your personal preference.

That being said, the bank is being diligent in when we will go back to the office. i personally dont think it will be until mid summer.

I actually got the kit about 5 or 6 months ago. Don’t read to much into it. I will bet anybody on here that in about 30 days Scotty sends a message saying out until May 1.

I don’t see the big deal. No we are not all going back in April. They still have to distance seating and such plus I think the days of shared cubes might be over for a while.

We aren't going back anytime soon. At least 90% of us. They decided to get the kits out now so that we're prepared when it does happen and there isn't a mad dash to get out supplies.

@lpp+18VG0u3v . It does not mean you can catch the COVID, But it definitely means even if you catch it there is less possibility you will die since you have the antibodies .. In the future you will be immune to COVID and so if you get infected, it will just be like a regular cold or fever .. That's it.

If anyone thinks that vaccinations will be complete by April 1st you have a very unhealthy trust in our Government. It isn't happening folks. We will still be having this conversation this time next year.

A lot of you have actually convinced yourself that the vaccine is a magic bullet. It is not. Just because you get the shot doesn't mean you can't catch COVID-19.

Got it too. Didn't bother to "cash" it in. That kit would have been useful 9 months ago, not so much now. At this point, we all have hand sanitizer and masks.

@qfk+18VG0u3v, then its up to each and everyone of us if we want to risk our life due to some people choosing not to get the vaccine. We should now need to separate those who do not get the vaccine to their own location. The rest of us can work in same office if we are vaccinated.

yea no I dont work in offices, plus if not everyone get vaccine it is unsafe, can they confirm that everyone in the office is vaccinated so it is a safe workplace?
