The 'here for you' LinkedIn posts are so transparently self-serving. And WTF with the 6453 alumni group? They're either proof of the lingering effects of Stockholm Syndrome or an sad attempt to maintain power through proximity. Either way, you're su-king FUMES people. Move on.
Totally agree. And for those that don't understand this POV, no one is angry about a peer or friend's genuine words of encouragement, but this isn't that. LinkedIn is just another social media wasteland where opportunists are competing for clout and your clicks.
Some of those people that are in the Alumni group makes me kind of never want to join it in fear of being associated with some of their "work styles" and behaviors.
Some of the folks let go in the 2020 and 2017 reorgs were just as psychopaths as some of current leadership team. Overzealous about "you" but reality its a way they can spin it around and be about them.
I guess you need people in the world like that but man does it feel not genuine. I'm sure there are some cool people in that group but the ones I know... trying to stay away as far as possible not to bring them back in my life.
I have been getting direct messages from people at recruiting/staffing companies asking if I was affected and if they can help. What a sleazy way to drum up business.

There is a difference between self promoting and authentic support. Self promotions are ones who try to show empathy when they cannot relate or have zero connection. Authentic support are those offering to be a referral or offer their connections.
Be the authentic one.
