Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Nike lost 5 years yesterday

If COVID times taught us anything, it was that what happens in the outside world affects people in their job. The lack of any communication by leadership yesterday was hugely felt. It could have been as simple as “statistically speaking, half of you are happy about the election results while the other half are sad. Please have compassion and grace for each other and know that we will all work together towards a better Nike.”

Point us towards that therapy website. Do something.

The lack of leadership yesterday trickled down to the managers who didn’t address it at all. People were crying at their desks. Some people were happy too. Some might say that we’re a global company so we shouldn’t talk US elections. That is naive. The world was watching and they have diverse feelings about it too.

Step up leadership. Become the people leaders your talent deserves before they all bail.

Just wait until China invades Taiwan. That will make COVID supply chains look like a picnic.

What is Nike's motto, "just lose".

So if Oregon doesn’t win the national championship should we console employees, care for crying, and get them therapy? What if my team doesn’t win the Super Bowl? I mean we are a sports company how dare they not be sensitive to my feelings!!!

Not everything in life goes your way. Election didn’t go my way but doesn’t dominate my life. Get some thick skin. Life is hard.

This post OP is why he won. For real.
Honestly, politics never belonged in the office, and certainly not at an athletic wear company.
Would you have posted on behalf of others if he didn’t win? Probably not. See my point.
Either way, I’m suspicious of why every meeting this week has been canceled. Ridiculous. We live in one of the most liberal states. Enjoy it and move on with your life. There’s hundreds of millions of people in the country and we’ll all have different views to the end of time. Don’t let those views rain on your day and your life and certainly not for the next 4 years! We lost years to Covid. Years! We only live once folks. Enjoy it and do something amazing this weekend!

You can always tell if a guy is a Trump supporter because they can’t fill out their Nike underwear.

We’re back to focusing on sports, not politics. I say hallelujah.

I daresay one would have thought a person of even modest learning might grasp the subtleties of proper diction. The word, my dear fellow, is "Incongruent"—a distinction that should hardly escape the attention of the adequately educated. One would have hoped for a touch more discernment but coming from a yank it is hardly astounding.

I actually really enjoyed for the first
Time in ages not having people’s personal and political beliefs pulled into the workplace, I could actually breathe and get stuff done yesterday Instead of being su-ked into a swirl of drama.

The last thing I need is my employer coddling me after an election.

Stay the F out of politics. We're big boys and girls.
