Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Step 1 Accountabilty for leadership team - Focus on Basics

Hey Nike executive team:
You all get paid over $10 Million plus to be Nike Leaders. It's a hard job, you deserve the $$. Maybe.
How about you all focus on Nike instead of yourselves, your egos and other companies.
Here are a few suggestions:
JD - Resign your Board Chairmanship from PayPal...focus on Nike
HON - Resign your Board Chairs from Spotify & Hyatt Hotels...focus on Nike
CW - Resign your Board Chair from Capital One...focus on Nike
MF - Resign your Board Chair from United Air Lines...focus on Nike
TC - You've had multiple Board Chairs; Resign from them all...focus on Nike
AM - Resign your Board Chair from Dutch Brothers (super lame company btw)...focus on Nike
MP - Chairman of Walt Disney; You've got your hands full. Better stay with that one......Good Luck and bet you wish you were still designing tennis shoes and shirts

Phil Knight - Never served on a for profit board of directors.......except Nike. That's a good reference point, I think? Maybe I'm just simple.

Just sayin'.....now bring on the haters.

@pnh: No one will like to hear the answer, but I think it’s very important for employees to have awareness how corporate boards are structured:

The investors basically agree to install the Board to “manage” the ELT. They don’t have an employment contract. All of their appointments are very much part-time responsibilities, and mainly about attending meetings to approve ELT actions and review financial statements. Total guess…but I imagine it takes no more than 10-15 days a year. So they can all have several, as long as they can devote the time…and I guess some of them don’t attend all meetings.

The crazy thing is American corporate governance is that the CEO is OFTEN also sitting on the Board too…Massive conflict of interest, if you ask me. It’s not this way in all countries. I think most of Europe requires two independent Boards.

That’s the way it is…what are you going to do about it? As GI JOE taught us all…”Knowing is half the battle.”

Why are they allowed to work two jobs but Nike will fire anyone else that does the same?
