Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Laid off, and feeling relieved

I thought it would hit me hard when it happened. Instead, it feels like a ton of bricks has been lifted off my back. I don’t care what happens next. I just care that I’ll never have anything to do with this place again.

@pn if that’s what you took from all that I said then you’re proving my personal theory correct. I didn’t say that all were, but from the area I left, there were quite a few shady and opportunistic people .

Positives to come out of being laid off myself months ago. It forced me to start looking for a new job as my new full-time job. I took a lot of free courses and certifications using my remaining Linkden profile since it was still linked to Cigna, we have access to free e-learning. I networked with many people in my past and applied to many jobs, became proficient in new skills looking for a job like Chat-GPT prompts, and some new Technology concepts from all my side e-learning courses I took. I ended up applying to jobs that I typically wouldn't and landed multiple job offers. I was able to make a significant jump by teasing out the great work I did at Cigna and applying for a much senior level job. I basically grew my confidence by not selling myself short and reflecting on all the awesome work I did. It's hard to do, thinking back to so many projects and accomplishments without access to Cigna network to look up my past notes and e-mails.

Yes! I can’t wait! Just waiting on severance as I am not leaving without it. The shady justifications are unbelievable.

“Best wishes to all who were blessed to get out and for the decent people that are left (and there aren’t many)”

So you think the overwhelming majority of Cigna employees are bad people?

Amen!!! I was also let go and after realizing just how much it was affecting me, I am glad to be free! The senior leadership and people were toxic as he-l and nobody can be trusted, because everyone is looking out for themselves naturally.
There are other roles out there, it’s just going to take some time and patience. Best wishes to all who were blessed to get out and for the decent people that are left (and there aren’t many) may you have the mental capacity to endure!

You don’t really realize how toxic something is until its completely removed from your life. Best of luck to you :)
