Wow people’. You have no clue. I worked in finance and saw the huge costs Nike paid. You really think the teacher/child ratios were consistent with the market? Nope. The Nike teachers were amazing but thats because they had way more staff than could ever be sustained in the market. Nike’s childcare cost for families was as much or more than most other providers even with a huge amount of subsidy from the company. If you moved to Endeavor or any other provider, you’d see big differences in ratios of children per teacher. No doubt NCDP was amazing- but given our current climate, I can’t believe families are complaining. Nike is in a serious financial situation so be grateful for your job if you have one. You may not soon.

@OP- NCDP’s Teacher/child ratios met state licensing requirements so there should have been no change if transitioned to endeavor. The cost parent’s paid was in line with the market.
As someone who works in a Key City office and isn’t compensated nearly to market level of a major US city, but rather who’s salary is benchmarked against similar roles in Portland...(Right of wrong, it’s a fact) I think I speak for everyone outside of PDX when I say that we appreciate some form of childcare subsidy passed on to us. Oh- and we still pay for our own gym memberships too... and have no transit discount... etc. etc.
@ouf+16jAwSTj ...LOL, "As someone very familiar with ALL of the ins and outs of this project, you guys are all ridiculous." You are kidding yourself!
Nike has $4B cash on hand. They are not in a dire situation.
Nike was already planning this at the end of 2018 when the financials were great:

All that talk about saving jobs is the whole reason why everybody hates Nike execs: no integrity!
You are simply lying! It's not about saving jobs, it's about saving money!!
Name one job that was saved by closing child care. Just say it as it is and stop believing exec BS.
This is associated with lay-off: the exact timing when people who are impacted dare not to speak up
As someone very familiar with ALL of the ins and outs of this project, you guys are all ridiculous. Parents are going to respond with entitled posts, those who work in finance will be HONEST about the costs to keep said entitled parents happy, those unfamiliar with equate the timing with general layoffs and everyone else will be very confused. This was an expensive NICE TO HAVE, childcare is not a core competency of Nike, this is not associated with layoffs. Parents, have at it. Heads up, maybe get off this site and start applying to schools. Better use of your time.
Nike is not in serious financial situation. Financial performance has been much better than expected and competitors. Stock price returned to all time high $100+.
Without advanced notice of the closure, many people are struggling to find child care with school application deadline passed for this year. Shame on the leadership team preaching servant leadership and people-first
NCDP was let go because it was a risk. Not a cost issue. If we are looking at corporate bloat for departments to cut then start with Valiant.
