I love this company and have enjoyed working here for many years. However, lately I feel very bad. I am surrounded by a lot of younger people, and regardless of experience and competencies, I feel like I am too old for this company. The feeling is awful. I haven’t had the experience of being let go due to age, but it’s very painful here to wait for retirement. Anyone else bothered by that feeling?

This post is the exact reason Nike should take volunteers for layoffs. If people are willing to go but want a way out with some security, then let volunteers leave and give them their severance. People who want to stay are forced to leave and people who want to leave are forced to stay. But the ego that is Nike won’t admit that the ‘reorg’ they do every 5 years is about offloading payroll.

@ooz you are a colossal DBAG and hopefully karma kicks you in the a**.
Kind of a bummer that you didn't the opportunity to collect a years severance for your toils. The lucky one did.
Plain and simple, either you move up or out at Nike. There is very little room for long-term middle management.
Admittedly, I think this is true of any fashion Brand or global company.
Life goes on ... and in a good way.
Cheers.
Relax.
@ooz .....wow!
Then do something about your situation. I know plenty of people who were laid off most likely because of age. Sorry, no sympathy from here. My friends would love to still be working. Take your pity party to a board that is not called ‘the layoff’.
