Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Time to unionize?

Not that I am pro union, but just putting this out there it could slow down or speed up King Frankenstien plans....

I still haven't heard back from the coordinator I called. I've been swamped (because of course we need more layoffs and to push more people out!)

I'll try calling again this week and report back after I hear back.

Fiserv does have profit sharing. We have an amazing deal where you get a 5% discount on a stock purchase. It is a really amazing deal that can't be compared to what Fiserv used to have.

People would be more productive if they had profit sharing..I don’t get a bonus or make big bucks… when I leave it will be quick as I leave with nothing….. also…they are watching all this

I think enough people are responding with interest that I'm going to find some time tomorrow or Friday to call. I'll respond back here after I've spoken to them.

Majority of people would be in for this initially. We would get well over the required 30%. What we would have to be prepared for is the fiserv response and the union "education" they would likely force us all to take which will undoubtedly sway people back to non-union. If you google you can see real life examples of what companies' responses have been to employees wanting to unionize. It gets ugly so we would need to prep for that.

can I get no-show spot when y'all get this going? I'm in NJ and have a last name that ends in a vowel, so it's all good.

I'm trying to get more attention on this thread. I'm tired of the situation and it has to change. "Find a new job" is an option, but not the ONLY option. After all, when companies start behaving this way and no one pushes back, it just gives permission to more companies to start acting this way. Sometimes it gets to the point that you have to dig your heels in and fight back. I don't think I'm the only one who feels like the fight is being brought to us and I/we are tired of backing down!

is this who you're referring to?
https://betterbanks.org/news/committee-better-banks-2021-year-review

if so, they also make mention of https://cwa-union.org/ and they have a convenient link to get in touch to help organize. I can't call them tomorrow due to commitments, but I can try thu or fri and post back here with any info I get.

I wonder if we could join the Community to Better Banking Union that’s been in the works for banking?

Yeah, I keep posting to this thread to keep it at the top. I want more people to see it, see how many are already interested, and see if we can get more to pique their interest too.

There is only one way to stand up to corrupt power, with power. You, me, anyone in this company doesn't have the power to stand up to a tyrant like frank. But WE, together, can!

Unfortunately, they're likely to try to retaliate; the good news is the NLRB is finally looking out for union organizers, so you're likely to get your job back (including back pay) if they fire you for organizing, and if they do fire you, it can mean instant recognition of the union.

I'm not saying there isn't risk, but the protections are finally trending the right direction to protect or make whole someone unjustly retaliated against for organizing.

How do we start one without Fiserv retaliating (getting fired or withheld from promotion and raises)?

I would join and vote not only Frank out but everyone connected to old FD.

I found there is one union is Fiserv in Slovakia.
They even have page in FUEL sharepoint. You can find them by searching Unija.

Seems there was some union busting attempt but they are holding up and in process of collective negotiation.

It seems like everyone has a perception of teamsters Ala Jimmy Hoffa days. Clips of current unions standing up for their members might help fight this perception. I know the president of the uaw standing up to the car companies has been impressive, and a couple of testimonies in congress where union leaders went toe-to-toe with ceo with out backing down or flinching have really made me realize a union for it workers is almost necessary now.

Here are a couple of YT videos explaining the process:

Here is a union that is in a sector of business fairly aligned with what we do here, but feel free to look around at other unions that might be a better fit:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Office_and_Professional_Employees_International_Union

And of course don't forget the latest change from the NLRB that says if the company does anything violating the law, or the process of unionizing the union wins by default!

Sad to see almost every post where unions are mentioned starting with something like here "Not that I am pro union"
Did you even thought about why you are not pro union? How did you get to that conclusion? Do you think things are worse in Europe because of stronger unions?

Unions make you stronger, not weaker. Why do you think every corporation and corrupted right wing politician is trying to demonize them?
