This is exactly why there is an imbalance in the workforce and why so many women are leaving the workforce again. Because of comments like yours.

As to be expected with rates going up and limited housing movement.

I am sure that is a difficult situation and not one wanted for anyone. Being let go is certainly not a good option either. We have what appears to be a very lazy and an all about me society. Wake up people, more of our jobs are going to other countries because of terrible attitudes and whata out me, me, me! You gotta work and if you don't like it at WF go somewhere else but stop complaining and do a damm job for once without whining!

Not sure why you think you should have preferential treatment because you have kids. Having kids was your choice, I'm more than sure some of your childless peers will have problems with a new schedule and whatever else comes along with this transition. Get a new job if you're so disappointed that a corporation didn't consider your personal obligations when deciding whether or not to lay people off.

I will never understand why people with kids think the world should revolve around them. You have the same options as your peers, find a new job or make the best of the situation. The nerve of you to say someone without dependents shouldn't have choices. YOU made the choice to have kids so deal with it.

Well, at least for once they’re trying to place people rather than lay you off and make you apply for jobs to stay in company

I am not OP, but if I were in her shoes, I would probably choose a severance. Some expectations are simply not realistic.

$240 per day is more than I make in my paycheck. I'm already interviewing with others in the next two weeks. Have several interviews lined up for companies that want real underwriters and are willing to pay good money and accommodate a schedule of a parent.

Someone who is childless or doesn't have a dependent in care shouldn't get to choose. They don't have that added responsibility. Likewise, people who have been here longer should get the first choice of schedules, and the newest people should get what is left. That is how you do respectful leadership.

Seems like the bank may be trying to yet another black eye in the public view. I'm sure these folks will be thrown to the cube once more AI is brought in. This bank does not care about people, only profits. Thousands have gone jobless. No humanity here.

Are you saying you would rather be laid off? Of course they didn't take your child care needs into consideration the same way they didn't take someone who doesn't have kids needs into consideration. Sounds like they were just trying to keep people employed which is a good thing.

Bootlicker. It ruined our bonuses, and they are taking no consideration as to whether or not these employees have kids. I am a single mother and have 3 small children, and I was told I am working a mid-day to evening schedule. My daycare charges me $30 per child per hour after 5pm, and $50 per child per hour after 6pm. That's an extra $240 per day I have to cover or try to scramble and find better childcare in a moments notice. There are 6 month waiting lists for daycare in my area. Some make you pay to get on their waiting lists. Tried talking to manager about it, was basically told I should be happy to have a job.

People still think underwriters review all of the applications…. AI already makes MANY of the underwriter decisions at WF. In some cases, 90% of the app flow. Given the recent number of underwriters hired in some areas, very little is going to change IMO.

I called this a while back. They are moving a lot of them to call center jobs. More to come too, as underwriting is being offloaded into AI.

That's very nice of the company. 300 families don't have to suffer the pain of a job loss. Props to the company.
