Sounds like we might be WFH next week. Guess we'll find out at the last minute. This was the promise JD gave us for transparency? This company used to be very pro-parent, but letting us know over the weekend that we're not coming into the office on Monday is a bit wack.

OP is the problem at Nike. Parents expect for WHQ needs to revolve around their chosen lifestyle. Work is work. Show up (or WFH) bust through your work and pivot to your personal life.
Yes it su-ks we live in a country that does not require flexibility (or have better infrastructure support) for parents, but it's the gig we've got.
Having to listen to parent complain "they can't do it all" is getting old.
@agp Can't speak for OP but I have little kids at home with the nanny during the workday. And I can't get work done if they're in the house (my office is way too close to their playroom and the kitchen -- they always find me). So when I'm working from home, they go over to their grandparents. Which is great. Everybody wins. But I don't know if I need to ask my parents to cancel whatever plans they have next week or not. It's annoying!!
@ojr+1s6zgg2N nice subtle flex! Tell us more about the leadership meetings you lead and how important we all need to acknowledge you as being. It’s breathtaking to be blessed with someone of your stature.
Why would you need to PLAN to work from home? You just don't go in. If you can't be home because your SO can't stand you, go to Starbucks and work. Some of us ARE important enough that we can't just take the week off at the drop of a hat, btw, unless you don't like getting paid.
@ksj - adding on to the below. People who have no one at home aren’t going for family gatherings or getaways, they’re going to a place where they have moral support and distraction. Sitting at home all week in silence until you get a random HR meeting is torture. Then to be alone when you get the news? Sad. But you sound like our problematic leaders, so. Im probably speaking to a brick wall with an over-inflated ego.
@ksj why are you so worked up over this? It was only confirmed for global a week or two ago that April 22nd would be the week the reorg happens. And idk what cushy job you have, but I can’t schedule PTO or flex weeks last minute when I’m responsible for leading in person leadership meetings every day. Relax and get off your high horse. Also dig deep for some empathy while you’re at it. A lack of empathy is what’s wrong with this company.
@lge+1s6zgg2N so we are talking about converting this WFH to a little getaway vacation? It is a cool idea but you know this layoffs coming from months ago. You could have take the liberty of using Flex weeks or PTO to schedule a vacation or get together with family anyway... Why wait like prisoners? If you end up laying off, you would have got back your PTO as payment. Not wanting to use PTO, you could have asked your manager to use a flex week anyway.... I know I did well in advance
The sad reality is our corporate overlords do not care about us. We knew this already but this whole inhumane process just hammers it home. Left to twist in the wind for months knowing a pendulum could whack us at anytime. No real empathy from that AI powered D-Bag JD. They don’t care that you have to make plans for your kids they are only concerned with the stock price.
@agp unrelated to parenting but I know a few folks that have no one at home and are planning to travel to visit family so they don’t have to be alone with their thoughts as they wait for the call. The OPs point I think is that this could have been low hanging fruit (as we like to say) to show some empathy and let employees do what they need to do to process a potential major life change.
Why do you need to "plan" to WFH? What does it have with being a parent? What am I missing?????
You’ll hear reliable information first through rumors or third parties before any type of formal communication, it’s how Nike has been and always will be
Let the chaos begin 🙄
WHQ?
I was told by my Sr Dir that we can work from campus or home next week. Our choice. Did some new info come out?
