The layoffs will be happening daily, middle month till EOM most will occur. They need you out by 12/31. Most will be delivered face to face even if your remote. Kinda of sucks.

Anyone thinking of drawing 401k before 59 1/2 need to contact an accountant. There are special federal rules for these. Also, depending on the state you live in you maybe eligible for unemployment earlier than you think, but in some states if you withdraw from your 401k it may effect unemployment benefits.

You are seriously not asking the internet for financial advice, are you? Frankly, if you need to withdraw from your 401k at 55, you aren't prepared for retirement.

Have you read the plan documents? From the 401k plan:
The 10% additional income tax does not apply to the following payments from the Plan:
• Payments made after you separate from service if you will be at least age 55 in the year of the separation;

I am 56 and sure that i will be cut. Does anybody know if our 401K allows the rule of 55 deduction from our 401K. I am afraid to contact HR because they may automatically add me to the list.

I wonder how many people will lose their jobs to pay for carbon neutral goals of the socialistic ESG nonsense

Why do people stay? Simple, pension and stock grants and those who went to Leadership development program out of college were told they were special and spent their entire career there. Unfortunately, they would be a fish out of water in a 21ST century company.

@oex+1j4H8ESz: I couldn’t agree more. I guess it is Stockholm syndrome or low self-esteem that keeps people working at Truist. I simply don’t understand why people would choose to continue to work in fear at such a terrible company.

EVERY co-worker of mine that has left Truist has felt the exact same feelings I have - why in the world did I wait so long. It is amazing to feel valued again. Put that terrible place behind you!

Layoffs are only going to get worse as we enter the coming recession next year. Buckle up. That hot job market everyone is always yelping about on here will disappear like SunTruist stock price has this year! Get ready for real pain.
