Unlike years past, where you could be a lazy bum and get the same bonus as your co workers, this year the bonus has really been linked in some way to performance. I know 2 co workers who got a 1 and they got $0 bonus. That has got to hurt.

@faf+19bIf4fY, CIB bonuses were great.
Charlie just served up some sh– sandwiches for all the 1-2's at the company. I don't think this goes far enough though. They need to start promoting people who perform well. You see people doing laterals here for decades. Then you see some guy in NC go up 3-4 layers in 2 years because he's buddies with someone. They have a serious issue with the wrong people at the wrong levels at the bank that also needs to be addressed.
sounds like for that manager there is an 'I' only in 'TEAM'
@hlr+19bIf4fY, hey Einstein, it would be a great tactic if anyone other than him got credit, but the case is he took it for himself and sent his team into the sunset, what a horrible manager. Typical here
You said: “scumbags work here; manager stole my idea and pass it off as his own to up his game;“
Well last time I checked, a manager expects their employees to come up with good ideas on behalf of the team. That is how a high performing team operates. It’s called problem solving and it is exactly what they pay us for.
When you succeed your manager succeeds, and vice versa. It is a symbiotic relationship
Maybe your selfish attitude regarding “your ideas being stolen” is the real problem
@nyw+19bIf4fY, this is the best tactic you are using for people who work in a place like wells fargo. Company is in a race to the bottom anyways, the board hire more criminals, managers steal from empllyees, hr is set of criminals
Thank you for illustrating my precise point. You do not what occurred in other groups, nor do I, and we have had very different experiences with ratings.
Quite a few people have been on here with smug posts. Thank you for agreeing with me that there can be a lot of inconsistencies across groups.
Each year I work here I am becoming more and more of a lazy bum myself. I'm very talented and capable but have no motivation to do more than pushed to do with the way things are run. 10 years ago I busted my tail to get that "5" but only got my normal "4". Working hard here seems to make no difference.
To be fair, this tactic has hurt myself as I'm no longer current on the skills in demand at top companies. But I have a 3 year plan if I can keep skating by and will step it up some to try to make it that long.
scumbags work here; manager stole my idea and pass it off as his own to up his game; what a loser and is unqualified along with rest of the losers
Looks like CIB bonuses were down year over year. Can someone confirm? Those guys usually get the biggest bonuses and if that’s down, it’s a sign
“ people who deserved bonus' did not get them;”
Let’s not be naive.
You could poll every employee at every company on earth and ask them if that statement is true and you would get a “yes” at every one of them
people who deserved bonus' did not get them;
@bxa does your first paragraph not describe you as well? Unless you've got access to some kind of HR database, your tiny slice of awareness night not be indicative of the larger group either. I have no idea what's happening elsewhere, but in my group there is certainly not a "you've been around a long time so you get all the goodies" mindset. The highest rated person in my group is one of the newest. Some longer serving people have the lowest rating. When it comes to measuring performance, YoS isn't relevant, not here. YMMV.
I see that you are the self proclaimed expert on the situations of a quarter million people. Congratulations on all your success!
All of you are under the assumption that actual performance drove bonus distribution. The bank has 266,000 people, I’m guessing most of you know substantially less than even 5% of those who work here and how reviews played out.
I know of specific examples where people were protected or allowed to skate because of their long standing relationships with the decision makers. “So and so has to be right about this because I have known them for a long time”.
for those not aware, that's true and you can thank the consent order for that. A major root cause was tied to lack of accountability, which can now be easily shown by lesser bonuses to those that did not perform as they were expected. It's a win win for the company. I do have empathy for those that suddenly got much lesser bonuses but think overall it will lead to a better bank. Those that don't want to put in the required effort will likely leave for something else and the rest will continue to try to improve instead of staying status quo.
yea but there are lazy bums in IT, who do absoutely nothing and getting 3's and 4's only because they work here decades. Their skills are so far gone, they have none anymore. They can just get the layoff; thing is the manager like to keep them as for whatever reason how the bank works when you have been here decades doing nothing and they get full bonus reward for doing nothing
Bet you didn’t get a great bonus
I feel for once everyone got the bonus that they earned
I certainly hope neither of you need any help from your so called lazy bum co-workers. Perhaps when they leave, voluntarily or involuntarily you will enjoy doing their job in addition to yours for free.
I see that the back biting and backstabbing has begun according to plan.
Anyone that got a "1" probably doesn't deserve a bonus. Kudos to the company for not rewarding horrible performance, 'bout time.
