Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

RTO - the lies

It’s not that I mind working in the office. It’s the ridiculous list of reasons we’ve been given for having to do so: clients want us back in our offices (they really don’t care) and collaboration (we aren’t co-located anyway so we’re already doing this via Teams).

The truth is we are a tech company being run like a bank. Even worse is we somehow received an award for being “most innovative” when we are barely staffed to keep the lights on. Not sure who paid whom for that distinction but well done.

Being told to RTO 4 days, 8 hours per day, will likely drive away those who were barely hanging on. That’s the REAL reason for the RTO - Fiserv won’t have to pay severance to anyone who resigns. This is just their latest attempt to further reduce our workforce. This company is being gutted and I assure you our customers notice.

"Does anyone care if IT development teams work from home? I don’t think any meet clients."

My team is quitting in droves. All of my clients are escalating my projects because I keep getting projects dumped on me from those that left. We have requisitions in for 2 people. And they have to report to an office. We are definitely NOT client first.
Clients can escalate all they want. If we don’t have the bandwidth, we don’t have the bandwidth. This is all management’s doing. I refuse to stress out about what they created. They can fire me if they want. I really don’t care.

I've been snorting coke for five minutes and I feel fantastic. My energy levels keep growing. There is no way this short term boost will result in devastating long term consequences. I am so smart.

Do I have to explain that this was sarcasm and I am using dr-g use as a metaphor for how a temporary short term boost can result in long term consequences? Or did you pick up on that without me spelling it out for you?

Lol @nws+1mknv4mg you don't talk to any clients directly do you? We are dropping core customers right and left. And doing free "saves" to try and keep others from bailing.

This kind of "service" model isn't sustainable.
