They didn’t really eliminate positions as much as eliminate positions as people traditionally knew them . Granted, the plan is to get people to apply/reapply for the same positions and pay less money. May 1 to swing almost everyone goes into end of term in graduation season. Best of luck to them.

So how do YOU know the contracts are not already cancelled?

We know that JRC is open and transparent on all their financial decisions...

But...are they though?

Most of the contracts have a 30 day out clause so, we can cancel all we want and be ok. But that’s not likely the plan.

Offering a restructuring of all of the bad contracts or going flat out to a management fee, would be the smarter and more likely option.

It’s not like anyone else has leverage to come in and swoop up these contracts.

They are not going to shut down stores after May 1st, it would be a contract violation and they would be sued. Eventually they will cancel some contracts but not immediately.

Could it be that you are getting what you pay for in terms of associate recruiting?
Could it be that our hiring practices and scheduling practices yield this level of associate.
Pay at a level at or below flipping burgers and schedule no hours and see how inspired your associates are.
Wow. What a thought.
Bet things only get worse.

" I can tell you a lot of our stores were being run into the ground by incompetent lazy associates."

As someone who has helped dozens and dozens of other stores there is sadly some truth to this. I can't count how many big dollar financial mistakes happen in lots of our stores. Selling products at negative margin, bad inventory management and shrink, ridiculous QTC and order amounts. The list is endless.
I've seen so many stores making good sales running so badly they're losing money.
Multi million dollar stores so badly run they cost the company thousands.
Not necessarily lazy but incompetent.

Sorry, but if you think that RMs getting together and discussing means they focused on store managers who were not working hard then you will be in for a surprise.

I watched them promote store managers who have demonstrated that they are incapable of basic things like sticking to a labor budget. And watched them fire store managers who actually work.

RMs being involved does not mean anything.

I'm sure massive reductions at the Ivory Tower. Many Directors, VP's, and Executive VP's RIF'ed or pay reduced work load increased. For SURE!

Didn’t say everyone deserved it. But the RM’s etc got together and discussed personnel. Some needed to go. Others were associates earning too much, which just sucks. I’ve been in retail a long time and been through these situations a few times. These were hard but necessary business decisions. Reality.

JRC has a comprehensive list of all associates that indicates the hard working ones from lazy ones and they are keeping all the good ones and getting rid of the non performers.

Every one that is being demoted and/or having their pay reduced deserve it.

Sure...

It’s not sucking up when it’s done anonymously. You are angry and hurt. I am sorry for that, but this site is a bi--h platform so I suppose all of the comments of doom are to be expected.

Sucking up to JRC won't save you. When your number is up on the spreadsheet, you'll be gone too.

There are bad employees everywhere. Cutting people's pay in half and doubling the amount of work expected is just wrong.

Everything is not closing. Quite frankly I am a manager that traveled a lot with this company. I can tell you a lot of our stores were being run into the ground by incompetent lazy associates. Some of you on here need a reality check. Time put in doesn’t always equate to a quality associate. Again this comment does not include all associates affected.

Does anyone think follett cares? Does anyone else think that follett will close down everything as of May 1st?
And good for you. It can become the campus' problem then and they will have to figure out how to get all the books returned and how to get caps and gowns to all the graduates. Hard to do when your Bookstore has closed and the contract company has gone tets up.
