Depends on the group you are in. Corporate Risk has started their "centralization", "standardization" and "location strategy". Anyone not in an approved location needs to have their resume ready to go and probably should be posting externally at this point. And, for anyone who performs an operational type role within a team, expect it to be centralized/standardized to a central team supporting one of Charlie's directs. Technology should more or less be over as they started theirs 3 years ago. HR too (were 2ish years ago). Not sure about other groups and when theirs will occur but it is coming to a group near you VERY soon. Number I keep hearing through the grapevine is 33% is how "top heavy" we are. Many positions will move to India or Philippines for cost cutting. Rest will get eliminated.

QA is a needed process and developers should focus mainly on writing code.

This is shaping up to be a freakin mess.

With the whole CI/CD thing losing QA people is a bad idea. Many/most developers aren't that good at actually writing test scripts let alone actual testing. Getting all that stuff automated is a huge effort and I'd lay money it's going to be a cluster f**k for a while.

As far as A Jones goes…kiss a@@ and you will get promoted or steal ideas and use as your own.

Two faced B…

Never “sent” to QA period. She ran her mouth and gave confidential information to those that kissed her ru-p.

@nhn, it is not a joke. It is not enough to learn automation. You must also start automating your manual tests.

I know of teams where those that learned automation and used that knowledge to help their teams, were converted to Software Engineers, while other QA folks were laid off.

  1. Jones also said in her after displacement call that engineer job postings were sent to all QA people and they chose not to apply. So much for candor!

It was interesting how they acted like they wanted QA to learn automation only to layoff the entire QA team … what a Joke!
