Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Culture Call Out

True thoughts on Humana's culture please. I'm on year 5 and my mental health has been completely destroyed by the oppression, gaslighting, and overall toxic culture. It's an environment in which you can never question anything. All management, even those at the bottom of the food chain, are power hungry enough to push you and their own mothers in front of the bus to get ahead. It is insane that I've stayed 5 years. I pray for a RIF soon to end my suffering, I'm so beaten down I don't even have the courage to look for another job. I hope I'm alone in this but I'm imagining that most other H employees feel the same??

Unrealistic goals, discrimination caused by DEI. The most toxic environment I have seen in over 10 years. Absolutely miserable. I really do not see how they keep getting away with this.

Find another job! Stop depending on someone else to make a decision that you should make yourself. If your not happy, go be happy.

You know the slimy residue at the bottom of a fishtank that stinks so bad you want to puke? That is comparable to Humana's culture now. Long gone are the days this company had any integrity or care for its employees.

It's horrible. They are saying now if the nurses do not upsale mail order pharmacy and med recs to the pharmacy our metrics don't matter, because upsaling is basically how we will earn bonuses for now on. This place is ridiculous. They have ruined the company and want us with higher education to sell their cr-p to make them money or else. This is bulls#!t

I just got told about those page by a coworker and now I'm lying in bed and can't stop scrolling. Management definitely needs to see this page because everything I'm reading is on point! Everyone I know working here is just plain miserable and most are prescribed something to help them get through the days! I pray for the day I am able to see this place in my rearview and like others, I may even go back to front line nursing to get away from it!!!!!!!

@tb disgusting with nonstop questioning and changed up guides for different processes in the emr sometimes changing 2 to 3x in a month. Heres a link and a slide show now you figure it out. Oh wait. It changed again. Didnt you get the email? Circle back and align with another swim lane in the ocean of putrification.

Holy Moly! This thread is on point! I work for Conviva (Centerwell's sister in the south) and I could have written any of these various comments! Our leadership has to be the worst of the worst! We have constant changes that make no sense and for the past two years, we have been stuck on level 1-2 with change management. We have a change group in now that has to be the most inept people ever. Everyone and I mean everyone is burnt out and miserable. Morale is at all time low. You can almost smell the fear it is so pervasive in this company. I stay because I have a mostly virtual position otherwise, I would rather change bedpans than work for this sadistic inhumane company. Why is top management not crashing down on the heads of our leaders?????

@c7 Years ago, Humana stock won't stop rising. Now in the past two years, stock price dropped 55%! If you invested $1000 two years ago, you only have $500 now. That $500 could keep dropping from here. Humana culture has become so toxic in comparison with a stellar system with associate engagements at all levels years ago. We lost our star rating which is no surprise either. Don't put your hard-earned money in Humana Stock in your 401K.

@sw scary for sure with revolving door of same mediocre leaders backed up by HR even recommending various illegal recourse just to shut people up then "leaders" get links to covey quoted videos about leading by example while telling staff not to speak out. Same pattern for past 3 years. This is how toxic layers build up.

@qq , Your work life will be more difficult with excessive documentations of any possible wrong doings by your leader, 'judging' you as a poor performer, taking away growth opportunities, disengaging you, it'll be an environment setting up for you to fail, and you will fail on paper. Ruining your well-being in the process. It could start with something very small to trigger the malicious retaliation process formed against you. You need to evaluate if this is a battle you're capable of fighting. If not, leaving early is a good option to protect your career and sanity.

This has been going on for a long time and people have finally started realizing how often the poor culture, horrible management, and HR complicity have caused horrible issues for people...yet nothing changes...until it does. Humana will be exposed, people are talking that have been wronged and I suspect massive lawsuits are coming to Humana from people that can't be "bought" off.

@q0 Leaders taking your work and claiming as their own is a common occurrence in CW too. What do you do if you can't raise to HR? This impacts my ability to be able to support my family. I believe you that HR and upper management will try to make you into the problem if you do complain. It is a vindictive, ruthless, immoral machine hiding under the smoke screen of being a "human" company.

@nd are you talking about my leader? Same here. Always gets what's on your mind, then these become their ideas. Take people's work as entirely their own credit. There is a moral issue here too. Also to respond to the above comment, don't raise to HR or senior leaders, if you do, the force will be formed to prove you the problem regardless of your performance. This type of toxic culture will bring Humana down.

@OP I am in the same boat.. 5 yrs and drowning due to the toxic culture. You can NEVER do enough and the rules change so very often. Additionally I have a Sup (leader haha) that is an id--t. He takes your suggestions and presents them as his own ..never giving anyone credit. Miserable and looking ..

@hf PCO employee here too. I'd like to think the Humana side is better but these threads don't make it seem so. I've worked in healthcare 15 years, mostly hospitals, and this organization is beyond what anyone on the outside can comprehend. The constant changes, staff turnover especially in management, and endless work make it miserable. I hate to say it but DEI has destroyed any dreams this org had of having a good reputation. They hire staff all the way up to management and providers based on skin color and the quality of care is not a consideration.

I've worked with the PCO, CenterWell, for the past 4 years and I will say that everyone there is miserable. I mean everyone. The management team treats frontline employees like garbage. The are all about trying to preserve themselves because they are probably ruled by fear and intimidation and that is what they give us too. The rules are constantly changing and management is always telling us what could happen if we mess up. Turnover and RIFs are crazy. I'm working on an advanced degree and the minute I can leave, I will leave a trail of dust. I maybe trust my manager but anything above her cannot be trusted.

@f5 you’re one of the lucky ones then! The culture has steadily gone downhill over the last 10 or so years. My last leader was absolutely horrible and ran off so many people that I’m surprised she still has a job but senior leadership loves bobble heads that would eat a pile of g@@ if asked. Chess pieces on a board.

@f5 You’re one of the lucky ones. My last leader was horrible as are most. The culture was so much better ten years ago. Leaders were held accountable and they actually knew what they were doing. Last few years have been brutal culture wise.

@c7 you're wring. Humana has policies to protect the company gift wrapped to look as though they protect employees. Employees have the facade they can go to HR for relief but do NOT go to HR unless you want the machine to start looking for reasons to make you the problem. I have seen it happen time and time again in my decade there. They will "manage" you out.

The Humana culture now is definitely not the Humana culture I knew years ago. Many excellent associates left or retired. They took away the winning culture what made Humana the mega insurance company as it is today. Those leaders who cared for associates as their colleagues disappeared as well. Promoted or joined are those with different driven agendas. At the end of the day, it's important to be reminded that a job is work! People can't bother us if we won't let them. Humana also has policies protecting workplace. I believe it's a difficult market in most places nowadays.

It is unwinnable. Agree. The blame shifts depending on who gets criticized or prompted to explain a workflow or process. The hints of more changes and transformation wear us down bc no matter how often we show direct evidence , we can never fulfill far fetched goals because leaders make it up daily and then criticize us when we question it. Wishing they would rip the bandaid off with next layoffs. There is no transparency.
