Excerpt from a podcast Aug 16, 2023

During such a challenging time, the usual methods and the usual mindset failed. It was soon understood that there was a need for change. A change in the mindset to shift from peacetime mentality to wartime mentality. And wartime leadership understands that, it is absolutely necessary to be equipped for the worst possible situation. Besides, the closure of the retail market led to a drastic increase in online shopping. Donahoe explains how a new need arose, to create a new kind of shopping experience that was almost solely online. The CEO applauds the Nike team saying they did a phenomenal job and kept the momentum going despite facing the toughest of challenges amid the ravaging pandemic.

@ncj+1s0Y4kQM, thanks for this link. Did not know JD was on CNBC before seeing this. Also never really noticed how stilted his speaking cadence is before the last all-hands, but wow it was on full display there. He sounded like he knew jack $#!+ about what he was presenting.

You new around here OP?

I could tell you stories about expensive hotels, trips, dinners, etc. that are so outrageous and over the top you’d think I was making them up.

For example, a very senior exec who was thrown out once spent $15K PER NIGHT on NYC hotel rooms for himself. I would know. I had to process the expense reports. I also saw six figure “consulting deals” with people whose only qualifications were knowing that same exec.

If shareholders knew how much grift had gone on they’d have sued.

His main side kick AO, once expensed 40k for her house to be decorated for a holiday party for 12 nike employees. The last ELT shuffle when they all got new offices and spent 20k+ each to update each one.

Notice the big swoosh on his shirt... finally attempting to "represent" the brand of a company he leads, lol! All forced and everyone can see right through him. He doesn't care about the brand, he only cares about his paycheck!

Blames remote work, factories being shut during Covid (ahem, stock was $177 on Nov 1, 2021), etc - anything but his poor leadership. He was so disingenuous in this CNBC segment - sure JD, consultants aren't running the place.

Is “remote work” what we’re calling replacing experienced staff with the cheapest people we can hire in India? Because I’d agree with him then.

They needed the fancy hotel as they were having an extremely hard time being disruptive while working ‘remotely’.

Watched this live this morning, and CNBC folks were not convinced about his disingenuous babble. They were even joking about what he meant by “story telling”.

And he has the audacity to say this -
