So many people I spoke to were given an option. Take alternate job or take package. The saddest part is that these people were considering taking the demoted, poorly paid jobs because somehow Nike management had made them feel worthless and they’d be better off staying. I think people are calling it Stockholm syndrome but it’s much more sinister. I helped give a lot of people wings this week. And I think once they made the decision to leave they felt liberated. Good on them!

It's been handled according to the consultant's playbook to efficiently increase attrition rates. No matter how much you complain, nothing will change. Just move on.
@ncg that’s exactly what I would do in this situation. Take the demotion to keep pay and benefits then immediately start looking for another job. It is much less stressful to look for a job when you don’t truly need one than when you do. For sure though I would consider a demotion as a very good sign it’s time to move on.
Stay for your family, do nothing, find a new job and then leave. Win, win, win.
Why blame people when the job market is so bad. Would Nike have done these layoffs during the great resignation? Obviously no, instead none corrected our salaries by 12% to the market in addition to merit increase. Will good time for job seekers come back, yes possibly after 2025, will Nike then throw money so that people don't ship out, very likely, will people then forget these layoffs and enjoy extra salary and bonus, most likely people have sorry term memory.
When those people can’t find jobs and can’t pay their bills I’m sure they’ll think of you.
Some I know told the severance. I mean you have complete control of the situation, nobody if forcing you to stay. You’re a grown up that can make your own choices.
I wish I was given the option, it would have felt better if it was “my choice”
This is Nike’s unskilled leadership think they have power. By laying off people. That’s why the company is failing. They deserve to fail.
