People in my department are getting RTO exceptions just because they don’t want to RTO. Yet my particular team gets no exceptions unless there’s a medical accommodation. We do similar work. How is this fair? We all report to the same OC member. Anyone else seeing this? What can we do about it?

My manager was hush hush too. I know various people on the team were getting disparate treatment, and that's why I left. Absolutely, it's happening. Nothing at the bank is transparent & fair. That's why the good people are leaving.
For those who feel RTO is better than no job, in some cases, RTO is causing people to have no job. Myself and all of my peers are remote and have been since before 2010. The forced RTO combined with the closure of MANY sites means that people who do extremely well at their jobs are suddenly told they can neither promote nor make a lateral move AND we are seeing jobs filled by less than qualified people that just happen to live in Des Moines, MN, or AZ.
I was offered an exception when I gave notice. Maybe they threatened to leave.
More than half of our leadership team is fully remote (family concerns, moving for a spouse's job, no interest in returning, etc) and yet absolutely no exceptions were made for the regular team. Life isn't fair, and Wells Fargo is a sh---y company with selfish, poor leaders.
“Hish hush?”
It amazes people still think this world is fair..always been and always be people with hish hush privileges for various reasons including but not limited to the value your work is to the bank
Discrimination
OP. Thank you for the enlightening thread. I had no idea that life wasn’t fair sometimes.
People are complaining about going into the office just as over a thousand just got cut.
smh....
As the economy continutes to deteriorate, we're going to see RTO used more often as "punishment" for employees who are not in favor with their managers.
RTO has nothing to do with returning to an office. It is simply a big stick that is used to beat people.
Omg ppl are losing their jobs I'm sure they would be happy to go to office and do your job! Suck it up or look for a new job!
it's not fair but life isn't fair. next thing you'll be complaining that someone in another group makes more money then you.
A manager’s favorite person on the team can do whatever he or she wants including doing a really lousy job and the manager will look the other way. The manager will cover for the longtime crony even if that person’s sub-par work or behavior makes her look bad. It is astounding.
Unfair exceptions help drive attrition. It's all by design.
@mug+1huAvf7a Would love to know what exceptions are being made in Risk Modeling. I’m in that group and have heard nothing.
This is the story of life. Life isn't fair and sometimes it just sucks. I'm more concerned with pay discrepancies.
I agree that exceptions are being made for some individuals, but not others. There are also exceptions in business units that have lost too many people due to RTO. It also depends on which level you look at too. At one point anyone reporting up through Doug Smith and MK were told no exceptions, but then that changed. I think additional exceptions were made once Derek Flowers moved over. The people they absolutely do not want to lose have received exceptions, while those that are more replaceable do get them. More exceptions are now being granted in Risk Modeling.
