What exactly does an MBA do all day? Mine sits in her office looking at the computer. Even on weekends rarely ventures outside of her office. Is there that much desk work involved with the role?

Sounds more like our OOM, not MBA.
@2ha - Meh...we see that posted here all the time.
@2ha Are you able to share what kind of changes?
Hearing that MBA will have changes made to it
I am grateful for the MBA at my store. She handles more than we even know about.
As a newer in role MBA who was a Sales Manager, I definitely understand that MBA can be misleading as someone who just sits in an office all day but the reality is that someone needs to be doing the tasks or things won’t run properly , time cards will be messed up, scheduling gets out of wack, store would run out of supplies, new hires wouldn’t get started
@mt Wow I wish my MBA did a 1/10 of what you do. AYS was taken from the MBA in my store and given to the OMM and the only area they are in charge of is the AST team and that is 2 girls. We haven't had a fun calendar in over a year and when we did the store manager did it, most of our supplies and onboarding is done by the AST team. From what some have said you guys seem to keep your store going ours just lets things slide and hope and pray things work out in the end
@kb
Thank you. Your reply is much appreciated and is a very accurate picture of what the MBA role is. We are not sales managers!. I'm at my desk about 75% of my day and when I'm NOT at my desk I come back to the office and find people waiting to see me. And I also manage AYS at my store. And I have a lot of package problems I have to fix every few days because of shipping problems. But if people think we need to be on the floor all day, let see what doesn't get done any longer because of it 🤷
MBA also manages the AYS team at my store
MBA = Business Administration Manager
The job title nor job description state ANYTHING about the sales floor. Sounds like she/he is doing exactly what they are getting paid to do.
They ensure that you are paid on-time and have supplies you need. They are the pocketbook of the store meaning they ensure the store is profitable by managing profit and loss.
They manage staffing and the hours budget on a daily basis in addition to onboarding new colleagues to your location. This includes ensuring they are ready to go on day 1 and transitioning them to their people leader.
They also make sure that you enjoy coming to work by planning and executing a fun calendar.
They make sure that the building is safe by managing the monthly safety program. This includes monthly inspections and coachings.
They are the liaison from corporate to the stores. Most communication is coming to them and then communicated to leadership. They are the ones keeping you in the know with Star Memo's and Training Alerts. (Your leaders don't print those)
They are also here to answer your HR related questions and field questions from your managers as well.
And as you have shown, they are in the most disrespected position in the store. They aren't just staring at a screen. They are getting you help on the floor, keeping you safe, ensuring you get paid, making sure your location stays open for business, and providing you snacks. Administering the business......they are doing their job.
Sounds like my store.
