"only have until 3/27 to decide to accept or take the severance" . You have until May 1st to decide to accept severance. March 27 is when the new jobs will be available in myHr.

*We aren't getting our official severance document until May 1st.

@nun+1lLH9e3F: I was informed that on Monday there will be new positions that can be applied for... some remote work as well. I don't know about you but I live in an area that has fast food jobs and medical jobs galore but nothing decent. I am not opposed to moving if I have to but I'd rather not if at all possible. I know there are people here that think we should just jump ship but that's not much of an option for me esp at my pay rate. Good luck on your journey my friend.

I feel sorry for those that didn't attend the calls today. The termination email they get in the next hour will be a huge surprise. 8 weeks of severance. How is that paid out exactly? One lump sum or through payroll every two weeks?

"They collaborated with the stores"...uh...no... You collaborated with the GVPs and RMs who DON'T EVEN WORK IN THE STORES. How in the sam-hill would the GVPs and RMs know the jobs that the front line workers do? They DON'T!
This is not a collaboration and it is NOT good for the company. Maybe for the corporate folks, but the front line workers who actually MAKE the money for the corporate people.
So what happens when everything goes to s*** and they aren't making a profit for them?
They file Chapter 13 and everyone gets fired. Except the corporate people. I am sure they will give them a job somewhere, because they aren't qualified for anything else other than delegating and licking the boots of EC.

I have been with the company for quite some time and just got fired. Speaking with my RM within the next couple of days to see if have any viable options to stay with the company at all in a different position or whether I am better off looking for employment at a company not named Follett. For anyone else who just got fired and has been with the company for an extended period of time I understand how you must feel today. Good luck to all going forward.

For those asking about the promotions. I know some SM’s are being promoted to Market Leaders and are overseeing 2+ stores. Some ASM’s are being promoted to Campus Store Manager (depending on volume, I believe), and others are just having a title change to Campus Store Leader (again, depending on volume, I believe). This will give our RM’s about 1/2 the number of direct reports. Instead of having 30 stores, they may have 10-15 market leaders that directly report to them. Some of us were demoted from Campus Manager to Campus Leader and will have a Market Leader to report to. ASM and I believe CMM positions are being eliminated. My store lost their CMM last restructuring so I’m not sure what happened this time for them.

For those waiting on calls, check your personal email as I found my call invite in there rather than my Follett email account. Barely saw it by accident a few minutes before my call.

How long are they going to wait to call some of us? Been waiting hours.

If you weren't sent an invite in your email to be on one of the "organizational update" calls, then you are not affected.

EK emailed the Canadian stores to say we are not apart of the current reorg changes. “We do not anticipate any additional changes for our Canada based team members”

Keyword: anticipate. I’m sure the time will come when a reorg hits our stores.

Sounds like the markets are going to be geographically based rather than a fixed store count.

Any thoughts on how many stores a market leader will be responsible for?

Well I am apparently getting a "title change" but here I am just waiting for details as to what my new job is going to be. Seems I put too much faith in the wrong company.

Oh man, oh man oh man. Wouldn't you like to know what's really up?
Default on contracts? Declare bankruptcy?
Write off millions vs. hundreds of millions in profits on your other investments?
Follett was just a pawn to be played against their other investments...

If they ask you to stay and help with the transition if you don't accept the offer, they can f*** right off. The future of the store is not YOUR problem.
"That sounds like an ishYOU not an ishME"
Bye Follett

I got let go today too. I am just shocked. And I have to stay until May 1 to “ help with the transition” in order to get my severance? What kind of craziness is this?

Stay and do nothing - d-mb looks. Worst they can do is fire you, then collect unemployment...

For people getting promoted, what is the scenario? Like ASM to SM, or PT to FT?

Me and two other seasoned managers are being demoted while others in our group are being promoted; some with as much experience and one manager who was just hired last year. All this time I assumed I'd always be safe since they pay me barely anything. I have to assume it geographical for decisions. Now we just wait around for some cr-p offer and only have until 3/27 to decide to accept or take the severance and I don't believe they're being as generous as they were a decade ago when they did the first round of mass layoffs.

So this will go down in the History of Follett as

Bloody Wednesday

where the James River Family finally ki-led off Follett.

Have to wonder if the Follett Family is toasting the demise of the Higher Ed Group?

Underpaid ASM here under a multi unit SM.

Three stores will not be able to operate properly without me doing all of the uncredited “above and beyond” work that I do for my SM.

I’ve got the titanic string section music playing.

Good luck to all.

40 hard working managers just lost their jobs at 11:30 am, all under the guise of restructuring. I saw a lot of people on that list who've been with this company a long time. That tells me it's not about experience and about what we are paid. Thanks for nothing Follett.

RM fwd the email explaining how 'great' this is for company and said it doesn't apply to us in Canada I find that hard to believe, why would we be on the call and get this communication. Only a matter of time before everyone is wounded and bleeding from this new leadership
