Has anyone else noticed the open job postings only list 1 or 2 cities? What happened to growing in other markets per the location strategy emails? Basically if you’re not in Charlotte or Des Moines you can give up your search now.

Dear COME TO CHAROLTTE
THE SUN GOT THAT MINISCULE BRAIN OF YOURS and FRIED IT DOWN TO NOTHING@@!!
Come to BOSTON where the REAL PEOPLE LIVE!
although every oc has announced where they will hire (growth and specialty) and won't hire but won't fire (maintain), the reality is at the OC+1 level leaders have been asked to pick a small number of markets (1-4) for hiring on their teams. My OC+1 will only allow hiring in 3 specific markets and this has been known/public in their group since before location strategy was formally announced at the OC level.
A lot of groups are only posting openings in the hub city where the hiring manager sits. Just a more intense location strategy than having the team spread out over multiple acceptable HUBS.
I don't know why you guys expect any new roles to pop up. Chainsaw Charlie has already made it clear that he wants to lay off people because of the low attrition rate at the bank. A billion dollars in severance cost is not a small amount. That's a lot of jobs getting impacted. In the short term, the bank will lay off people on shore and move those jobs to India. Long term? These clowns will be long gone to answer for anything. If shock and awe is what they are expecting, they would be surprised at how obedient the workforce is.
Agreed. And the worst part is that absolute pack of lies that the ivory tower spews out about employee development and advancement. The only place they want us to advance to is the unemployment line.
I'm in the role I want and absolutely do not want to move up from here, but I really feel bad for people that are at an earlier stage in their career who came to WF hoping to work at a place where they could advance and now must conclude that it's extremely difficult to do so here. It's obvious that it's entirely intentional thanks to the actions of "leadership". They want us gone, and really don't care what it costs or what is lost. They'll be long gone before the negative consequences roll in, so they don't care.
I moved a state only to be shafted in a role for one year or less. Tip: Don't move and find a remote role with a better company. Walk away with sc-m bag managers bonus. That'll tickle em'
Yes, it’s really obvious, look it up on workday where all the jobs are going. It’s India.
They want you to quit. There is little to no chance of ANY internal moves unless you special flavors. If you see otherwise, like people being hired or promoted into a job they seem grossly unqualified for, they are being set up to be the fall guy or gal. Start working on your resume.
I am located in speciality location . I have given up on finding job internally since I know my resume will go in a trash because of location strategy .. FML
Majority of CA jobs are in the hub locations for all LOBs.
This is an underrated comment. It's a great way to stop growth in that site, of course, but it's also a great way to increase attrition - instead of laying people off, you just stop offering any opportunities at X site until people get so frustrated by the lack of opportunities that they quit. Hillsboro, OR dealt with that for half a decade until they announced that the site would be closing. It was so frustrating and burnout-inducing to not be able to advance your career.
Make sure when you get called by the recruiter for an interview, ask if there is an "identified candidate ". I'm setting interviews this week where the person they're going to hire is already known, but I have to set up interviews anyway. It's the worst thing in the world to have to do.
Call it "Quiet Cutting"
This is part of the Site Strategy....job postings are only going to be in hub cities going forward and there aren't that many of them.
NTM, if you haven't already networked and schmoozed into the job BEFORE you apply, you're just wasting your time.
They won’t call you unless you’re located in one of these cities. If they do they’ll ask you if you plan to move there before entertaining an interview.
Because that's where the hiring manager wants to put that person
You will notice multiple lines of business are limiting reqs to only two locations even when they have other areas in the core location strategy.
Those DSM postings seem like window dressing. Those spots are being filled in NC
Bring those options to DSM - so many good people have been let go from mortgage over the years
Stay away from NC, we are full!
Come move to Charlotte if NY is too intense. Its great here and a growth market. The weather isnt California but there is no snow, earthquakes, or landslides. Plus your close to everything East Coast. People can drive to Florida or the NorthEast for a change of pace and the coast is close enough to spend a day or two.
Plus people in Charlotte are friendly, calm, and love technology as most of them are transplants from up north.
it's about the manager or team being in those locations and wanting new hires close by. You might also look for language around other locations being considered.
The whole strategy thing is joke as all of our jobs are posted in India anyways and don’t think that living in one of the US hub cities will help American workers at all.
Its been like this for a while. They are offshoring all of the jobs to India (and some to Philippines).
Even in DSM & CLT there are fewer open positions.
