Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

I know theycounted on people leaving, but did they expect this?

I know the strict RTO mandates were to force attrition, but I'm getting farewell emails and Teams notes weekly from some really good folks leaving the company. They're leaving real talent and knowledge gaps, and also leaving behind the mediocre people in their teams. This is frustrating because those people aren't going to do anything differently, just enough to get by. I'm having to step in and do the work for them because I need to progress things forward and they don't seem to care. I get it, I don't really care either, but while I'm there, I need my work to get done. I just wonder if leadership anticipated the top talent leaving like this. Who would want a company with stale, mediocre talent? That's all that'll be left if something doesn't change.

Fiserv only offers stale and mediocre products which is why they don't care about the caliber of employees left behind.

@mq He is super re--rded. Why wouldn't he appreciate these core knowledge. The people before us invented the standard technologies. That's why we need them.

@mh It's what documentation is for.

No kidding. Who doesn't know every detail about every core and every ancillary product and how they the all interact with each other? Just look at the source code you don't have access to, it is not that hard!

@ma+1jw1gnyr5 If people are smart why do they rely on tribal knowledge. That sound mo--nic in an IT/engineering environment.

Maybe Fiserv was really never that good and people just like to complain about good old days.

The knowledge that has left this company is crazy. I enjoyed being surrounded by intelligent and very knowledgeable colleagues. Now everything takes forever because the tribal knowledge is gone. When something is finally completed, you have to quadruple check everything because it’s always fu---d up now.

Thank you Frank! I am very thankful that you destroyed a good company. I’m glad you and your cronies got rich while the employees and customers suffered. You moved money at the speed of life straight to your pockets.

I started looking in March and I cannot wait to get the fu-k out of here. Godspeed.

@m6 When I worked at that dumpsterfire, there were hard working and smart people here or there, but the vast majority were absolute Fidiots.

@ka People are truly d-mb as rocks here. The soon to retire and the people out of college have it in common at Fiserv. What are they doing to find some of these people.

The cube block does not go in the triangle hole Jimmy. You can do this! 7th time is the charm.

When the going gets tough the good ones will get going! They are going to lose people who have options. Most still staying put are near retirement or are the immigrants locked-in by the immigration process. Management will not care if you stay or leave unless you are the last SME. They are happy to see anyone they can live without leave. They will just force those remaining to pick up more work. Ultimately they will always be in fire fighting mode and build nothing new. Welcome to a matured company with mediocre management that is happy to squeeze what’s left. This ain’t no MAANG

@jb You're right. Some have been forced into retirement. Lately, I've seen a mix of people leaving for retirement, resignations with and without another job lined up, and people going out on FMLA for mental health. This place is toxic.

It's sad to see people that have been with the company 15-25 years get abused for being trapped.
I couldn't take it anymore and quit in Sept 2023 when they said RTO two days a week. No way in he-l I was going for that. I can't imagine what it's like to work there now. How awful!

FI partners love when Fiserv ruins their business client relationships and their reputation. They are just happy as a clam!

@br+1jw1gnyr5 We are below bare bones. Look at how Fiserv cores land on the rankings and even the crowned jewel Clover falls way short of expectation. This company is pretty horrible to work for. I am just here going through the motion now but it makes me not look forward to the future.

@eb+1jw1gnyr5 The survey comments are not read by the execs. They’re read and filtered by the survey company. Only a handful get to the top.

Too bad they don't take the voice surveys seriously and use them to improve things instead of using the survey against the employees. People have been voicing their concerns for years and it falls on deaf ears.

We are all burned out and have been for too long. No one is happy. Those who are here have their own reason for staying with an end in sight. Frank and his regime took what was good and destroyed every bit. They will not take our dignity.

Is there still a hope from Mike Lyon to fix this mess?

I haven’t seen any change or action from him yet.

Or should we wait a bit more?

I mean, between forced relocation, RTO, Sapience and badge swipe reports… They would be fu--ing id--ts if they didn’t anticipate a high level of turnover.

Darn good question. They're going to overwork you by having you picking up the slack of the people who left until you get disgusted enough to leave and/or burnout to the point of hospitalization.

Don't do it to yourself. Start circulating the resume just to see what's out there and how you measure up in the market.

That said, I'm hoping Mike Lyons will have some humanity and correct the BS from the Frank era. Time will tell.

Unequivocally YES they expected the RTO policy to force attrition of senior knowledge. They were expecting the next great product of another company to be purchased to replace the lost institutional knowledge. That expectation goes back to 2019. No new next great product is available any longer and that is the singular reason people are leaving. Fiserv is getting what they wanted so they can push all support offshore!
