Thread regarding Omnissa layoffs

Anyone else have discrepancies in their severance notice?

Received severance details. It provided a lump sum amount and stated that it was equivalent to two weeks of pay for every year worked past four years. The amount seemed off so I ran the numbers and it was worse than I thought. The amount was less than four weeks of pay, based on their formula it should have been way more. Has any one else seen this?

The document said that severance was in addition to paid leave and even though the lump sum doesn’t reflect it accurately, it clearly states 2 weeks for every 1 year excluding your first 4 years. Curious if an employment lawyer could get a judge to side with us. Should have know some shady sh-t was going to happen when Omnissa failed to make a severance policy accessible to employees.

Are you being paid until April? Have been wondering if people with less than 8 years are essentially getting the same severance as those with fewer years.

“… that said it would have been better to get laid off last year by Broadcom”

And would’ve been better to get laid off by Omnissa with the ones last October, who got the prior VMware severance package.

The lump sum is the severance (2 weeks per year after 4 years) minus whatever you will get paid during the 60 notice period according to HR. I’m with the other guy that said it would have been better to get laid off last year by Broadcom. I’m seriously not really upset about getting laid off, knew it was a possibility. But I’m pi---d at the insulting severance letter they sent.

There is severance but not the VMware severance

Glad I saved the documents stating my time at VMware/Broadcom would carry over. Between that and the “formula” they provide in the severance letter, they can either fix it or speak with my lawyer. If they felt my position wasn’t needed they shouldn’t have offered me the job. Broadcom severance would have been much better.

Exact same issue. I emailed the HR email for explanation.

HR says we still have major IT and employee data transfer issues. When the EUC business unit was abandoned by Broadcom they lost access to the info they need to make accurate calculations. So, they're working from estimates. What a fiasco!

While I was still working there in December, it had been already 4 months since KKR takeover, and they still didn't know many days of vacations I had left for my proper final salary payment. That's how big of a joke they are.

The lump sum is the bonus related to half of last year

Does not surprise me... if they cant properly calculate things such as pay, PTO or RRSP for their current employees, what makes you think they will have it done right for employees that are being canned?
