Spin the sure to be lackluster earnings report as a positive. How many times does he use the word purpose (or some variant) and merger related expense. Whom does he blame for the continued erosion of stock price and profitability that is certain to get worse as the year goes on. When does the BOD wake up and grow a pair?

Rogers saying trust me, that’s rich. If Bible was indeed calling out leadership that was done quietly. No hBBT leaders current or former have made any public statements concerning the merger outside the company line.

The market is reacting to the earnings report quickly. Stock is down 9% so far since earnings released. Perhaps all the additional debt that was added since 4th quarter is a problem. When do all the institutional investors start selling? When and if they do, watch out.

When asked during the quarterly analyst call about plans to address expenses, Truist chairman and chief executive Bill Rogers said the bank will remain cautious amid the uncertain economic and banking industry environments.

“Trust me, every business leader has a positive operating leverage plan, and they are readjusting those plans — particularly with a (loan revenue) component — to the things they can do,” Rogers said.

“Things that might have been off the table are now firmly on the table, like everything else, when it relates to expenses.”

Rogers cited as examples focusing on residential mortgages, digitation and automation.
