It is possible that companies are complicit in the Biden/Harris job numbers scam. I'm guessing these ghost positions are reported up to BLS, which explains why the job numbers are constantly revised downward by almost a million. These are the jobs you see

"US job growth during much of the past year was significantly weaker than initially estimated, according to new data released Wednesday.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ preliminary annual benchmark review of employment data suggests that there were 818,000 fewer jobs in March of this year than were initially reported."

Due to toxic work culture in my department, both my colleague and I left CVS in June and Aug respectively. They are just back-filling my position about a week ago. I can’t say all but some of the positions you saw on LinkedIn are legit for hiring. I know job market is tough but there are jobs out there with even better pay and benefits. Good luck to those who are impacted.

Changing business needs mean that new skill sets and expertise are required. The company also has a lot of federal and state compliance requirements that certain roles must exist (oversight). Sometimes they mandate what state the person lives in and what qualifications they have (think state contracts). It’s unfortunate but it’s not always possible to just shift existing resources around to fill those roles.

Cant say how many fit this category but some of them are for promotions. HR makes its so hard to promote people that you have to work some magic with creating open positions the candidate "applies" to. You'll notice a job that has a 5 day open and close date. Its stupid not sure why that method is preferable to just promoting someone but I just did this for a valuable member of my staff.

So they can say people didn’t accept another position and deny severance.

Legitimate positions are posted, no company spends resources posting "fakes". In my department, we recently had a director retire. Her position was posted today. There are numerous areas working on improving performance, finding opportunities to improve member satisfaction, etc. These and other areas are at times in need of more staffing and that includes when times are hard.

I've been with the company for over a decade. The past couple of years I've seen a lot less positions posted. Every posting for the past few months has been closely reviewed by HR before its posted and that includes discussion with management wanting it filled.

The Heartbeat newsletter dated October 1, 2024, announced a hiring freeze to reduce costs. However, these positions are blatantly deceptive. Employees not chosen for layoffs are desperately trying to transfer, only to be ruthlessly terminated within the first 90 days by new hiring managers as part of a calculated job elimination strategy. This company is shamelessly manipulating its employees, playing cruel and harmful games. As a healthcare company, it’s outrageous and incomprehensible why they would engage in such deceitful tactics, causing severe stress and undue hardship on families.

The majority that I’ve seen are in the retail space, especially pharmacy staff. They definitely need to keep hiring in those areas.
