On Paternity Leave. Started last Monday. Decided to check phone Monday morning. Got invite for 5pm Zoom. Asked for it to be changed to sooner. Told no it should only take a few minutes. Joined meeting and was let go.

I have a coworker on maternity leave got laid off yesterday. Nike lost the respect. Shame on those leaders and HR approval of this. Somehow they don’t consider years of service & dedication to this company, and leader considering the people on medical/family leave as easy targets to make the list.
This same exact post, near word for word came up twice in the past during layoff events (the "quiet" layoff and phase1) and has zero details other than the Parental Leave / Laid off. I'm awfully suspicious that there is someone that comes on here and posts things like this to try and get people riled up.
I’m so sorry that happened. Last year in one of the smaller RIF’s they let someone go who was out on a medical leave getting chemotherapy. They literally do not care.
My deepest sympathy as I am currently on similar leave as well, but knew the chances of them letting me go didn’t matter whether I had a newborn or not. I was ready to get the layoff call as much as everyone else. I know you were ready going into this as well and should not come as a surprise knowing where the company is at right now
Ugh seriously sorry to hear this, all of corporate America is a sewer but after this fiasco there is no coming back for Nike.
How much lower can they go?! Jesus, I am so so sorry this happened. Truly ruthless.
I am so sorry to hear. I went through paternity myself and this is the critical time an organization is supposed to payback for your hard work by helping you nest securely for your little ones. I hope your little bundle of joy and mama are doing well. Sending all the best wishes to his/her health and happiness. Am praying that this phase will pass quickly and you will land something soon. Know that universe will come together to help you. Sending you lots of love.
How much blood do these greedy ba----ds want on their hands? Looks like they want all the money to themselves. They are done raising kids and grandkids, and have enough in their coffers for their luxury spending. JD and PK don’t care for the rest of employees and newer generations to have normal lives. Even to have one child and one home is not something they approve of. They put a squeeze and destroy lives of people who gave their best to the firm, so these ba----ds can be rich. These ba----ds will rot in he-l.
I am so sorry to hear that. I am sure, you and your family will prevail, flourish and prosper.
Sorry that happened with you. I hope Nike gave additional severance components. If not, shame on them.
@lct+1scJfLpw Unfortunately, it's unlawful to do so because they are new parents, but it's not against the law to do so if the lay-off is for an unrelated reason, such as company-wide budget cuts.
I thought you were protected with OFLA?? You should double check that cuz that's just garbage of them
Speechless. Thats terrible.
Sorry this happened to you.
That is absolutely dreadful!! I’m so sorry that happened to you during what’s supposed to be such a special time for you. It’s amazing to me how much this company has changed in the 15 years I’ve been here. They simply do not care about employees anymore. Only about filing the wallets of our useless ELT.
Sorry. That is awful. . They don’t care at all.
Dang. Harsh.
That is so wrong.
