Non-assigned seating was GPS’s idea and was supported by senior leadership in order to reduce the real estate footprint and costs. It’s not consistent throughout the org. and some teams (product innovation, product creation, etc.) have assigned seats.
@vbf+1vhnV8Wu, we were told it was part of a bigger picture when we moved into our building over two years ago. Either that picture is so large that it takes years/decades to unveil or.....no, they couldn't just be lying to us about this could they?
Our team was just moved to JR...we hate it. Small team, scrambling for desks...it just su-ks and it's hard to take the job seriously. This is the fourth time we've been moved in less than two years.
You realize it’s not GPS doing this? This is 100% MM mandating other functions do her bidding.

Our team is big and a smaller team moved with us. We want those seats too so, honestly, we have been jerks to them hoping they leave. We took some of their assigned desks and are being super loud. [Shrug]
GPS or whatever odd acronym they now call themselves can't seem to get most anything implemented. How hard is it to assign a building and/or work station to our employees? Teams are still waiting to get any form of an assignment! We have been told to wait because "there is a bigger picture", but months have passed. People are simply going rogue and ignoring direction to stay put and trying to sit near their teams. The mailroom has no idea where people sit. It is a total mess!
@kwe+1vhnV8Wu Next% has been a S show for the 3 years I've say in it. Never understood the open seating style and who wants to put things in a locker to only take them out again and again each day? It's worse than high school because at least in high school I had an assigned desk in every class!
