Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

The Donahoe Era was a disaster CONTINUES

eBay= Disaster
Nike= Layoff after layoff, reorg after reorg
"Donahoe's legacy will be a dysfunctional search engine, a major security breach that compromised customers' sensitive information, and preferential treatment of large-box retailers, both domestic and Chinese, that took the eBay experience from one of being about Discovery, and made it mundane."

welcome to the world of management consulting where 22 year old ivy league grads with zero experience tell old people with decades of experience how to best run their businesses. reality is stranger than fiction. might as well call men women

@ktt+1r6qMWKQ You would like to think the CEO has some influence over restructuring. But if the Board is forcing this, it sounds like its going to be leadership blood bath.

MP had sjw scandals, but have things really gotten any better?

Now our “physical love”-abuse scandals have come straight from the top of our DEI structure. And we can barely keep leadership there a year before they have to leave for one reason or another.

And in some ways the scandals have gotten far far worse. Instead of teams draining fat petty cash budgets we now have CTOs & their crony’s draining our charity match program & getting the IRS on our case. To say nothing about their kickback scheme with ghost headcount for Indian contracting firms.

Instead of people upset over internal networking we somehow ended up hiring half of Kohl’s, with the resulting years of inter-VP political machinations & drama. Our competitors didn’t have to do anything with how much we’ve been fighting ourselves.

Word on the street is JD will be gone within six weeks with ES and MP stepping back into leadership positions.

People are forgetting all the scandals during MP regime. Short memory.

@yzr+1r6qMWKQ - your wish has been granted. Nike is a dumpster fire. Low morale, stale product pipeline, waste, hubris, cuts and more.

Donahoe has been a disaster. The CDA was a strategy borne by hubris that was incompetently executed even on its own terms. He was supposed to be the ‘digital guy’. Instead we’ve burnt billions on tech programs that have delivered zero value and wrecked the connection to sports by pumping a top line number by pushing Dunks and AJ1s through Nike.com.
Like a crack addict chasing one more hit that was a strategy which was always going to run out of road.
He needs to be shown the door ASAP and MP should come back for an interim period to bring some sanity and good culture back to the company.

He is a total clown who only understands short term cost cuts not running a business or strategy. He has wrecked two companies now. The fool!

I think he has been a solid leader in a very difficult environment. He deserves applause, not all this derision. I'd follow him into fire!

You think any of these were his idea? They weren’t. He was brought in to implement the plan, not come up with his own plan.
