Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Learning and development at Fiserv

I keep my head down and get my work done, while in the meantime I'm looking for a new job. What I am only now becoming aware of is how much my skills have atrophied here.
No, I don't think it's just the fault of the individual employee. I think that the environment here in general doesn't stimulate enough learning and development. Thoughts?

To the long list of Fiserv courses. Most are BS titles and when I was there, they paid for nothing. You want a cert? Get it on your own. Then get out of the place. Fiserv never gave a tinker's damn for employee improvement. Look after your OWN career and life and forget this place. (Oh, that long list must have been written by our Ohio, ride the rocket, best fintech shill).

I've taken plenty of courses via acloudguru and now Udemy, which lead to certifications in industry standard technologies. Not to mention training from Microsoft with credits provided from them as part of the premier contract.

I believe Udemy is available to all FTEs. It's not just tech focused. They will most likely pay for your tests if its relevant to your role.

I'm stacking as much as I can before the inevitable layoff.

The company doesn't invest in employee's, but you can always take class's or get certifications to help prepare for your next jump.

We were talking about training that is actually useful. Those trainings are participation trophies.

Does Fiserv offer training on organization and forming a union?

You own your development. I get that people are busy, but you let your skills get stale. That part is not on Fiserv. There is a cultural issue here where people expect to be classroom taught new technologies. Newsflash - learning is free if you put in the work. The people that jumping to the latest and greatest jobs are the ones that stayed on the edge of tech. The good news is it is never too late. There are not enough folks that know public cloud, containers, or security to fill the jobs out there. Fiserv does offer Udemy access if you really wanted to get started now.

Your head must be in the sand. Fiserv offers more development opportunities than most any company I know. A partial list.
Vision to Results
Digital Learning Series
Leading Fiserv
Leading People
Inclusive Leadership
Leading Women
Thousands of Courses available on the companies Learning Management System
Structured Problem Solving
Process Improvement
Financial Management
Cyber
Cloud
Agile Training
Tuition Assistance for Degree Programs
Certification Programs
And most departments offer technical, job specific training - so the answer is obvious companies should offer (Fiserv does) and the individual employee (you included) should take the intitiaive!
