Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

When a job posting says you’re expected to work 3 out of 5 days in the office, is it actually enforced?

Cause fu-k that sh-t….

I don't think it's easy to fire somebody. My manager and I absolutely HATE each other (involves a woman a few years ago when we were both in high school). That guy would fire me in an instant if he could.

I've heard at this time HR has not figured out how to enforce, write-up, or discipline anyone for not reporting to the office. However, they are supposedly tracking badge swipes for arrival and departure to confirm people are working shift in office as expected. This is probably to determine compliance while figuring out how to enforce.

Please keep in mind most policies are just to abuse those who will follow rules anyway. Just look at how well delinquent accounts are catered to compared to quality customers. It pays not to care.

Anyone triggered by preferring to work in the office should look into why they hate being in their own sanctuary to do their job.

Do you need something outside of yourself to blame your own trash personal choices on such as when you Ubereats your soy burger to your desk everyday under your fluorescent lights and blue light screens? Or is it for the free garbage coffee you can walk over to get all day so I can hear you burp and squirm in your cubicle for a few hours?

The common denominator in all these office clowns. Sh*tty lifestyle.

Where? I want to try to get a job there too. Or better yet, a job where I can be fully remote, the way I was for almost a decade.

Let's be clear. There is no difference between WFH and working in office when it comes to layoffs.

It really is a hard call. If you WFH, you can easily be replaced. If management wants you gone, they will find a way by picking on your performance. It may not be your fault if the network connection for WFH is bad but it may affect your deliverable because you could have come to the office to get the work done.

During pre-COVID, we've always had people who WFH, but in times of layoffs, those were also the first to go.

I left this place for a competitor that is 2 days a week in with your team and 1 day a week, your choice, every other week. Works out to 50% in office.

I could not take where I was any longer (tech) and the money was much better so I figured, might as well try it out. It’s like a foreign land.

People in the office are happy. The two days a week the team is all together people are actually collaborating in person. Things get done so easily. People come over to my desk to ask how I’m doing, do I need help and to show me where things are.

Leadership, not managers but the SvB and his direct types, freely walk around asking people how they’re doing. People are honest with them. Once a week there is a free meal in the cafeteria. There’s a vending machine full of drinks that is free.

The office is clean, well equipped and bright. People wear masks and no one gives them dirty looks or laughs at them. It’s a complete 180 from here. No one is bi-----g about RTO or lamenting the loss of WFH they are all just normal people embracing the hybrid work environment and getting things done.

Has nothing to do with laziness. I was WFH long before C19. I have 10 hours a day I can work on a consistent basis. I can either spend all 10 hours doing my job, or I can spend 8 hours, 0 mins, and 0 seconds doing my job in a building with no one in my LOB and the other 2 hours fiddling around with getting ready, being inaccessible, commuting, and wasting time/money.

Your choice WF. Try not to make the stupid one or double down with a blatantly nonsensical 'justification'.

Anyone got in the office to join a zoom call because their teammates are in a different office?

Hardly any teams are actually enforcing the 3 day mandate. From what I’ve been told only 30% of employees are complying. RTO is a fu$king joke. I would ask the hiring manager point blank if they were enforcing this ridiculous policy and if they say yes, I would run for the hills. Because as you so eloquently stated “fu-k that sh-t”!

The whole company is expected to work 3 days in the office per week, so you might not want to bother applying.....
