Omicron is just getting started. Considering that it's more contagious than Delta, it will not take long for it to spread throughout the entire country. Since it's more dangerous than Delta as well and vaccines are not as efficient against it, it's only a matter of time before hospitals are overloaded once again. Once that happens, we're back where we started and companies that brought people back to the office will have to revert to WFH. All of this will happen within the next several months. All this will achieve is bring people back in January just to send them back home in the next few months. In other words, pointless.

We’ve been out of printer paper for a month or so now. I grabbed 4 packets when WFH started up, so grateful to replenish stock. Also could use some new pens.

So far Omicron may spread faster than Delta but may also be milder, meaning we are hopefully moving from pandemic to endemic.
The Pfizer vaccine is effective against it if you get boosters.
Which again, hopefully moves covid into the cold and flu category - yes, it comes around every year, but we'll have vaccines to help prevent it and medice to help people recover from it.
For any history students out there, this is the best time in history to be alive during a plague.

Literally no one on the planet has died from Omicron...and it's worth noting that it seemed to appear in a part of the world with really poor healthcare and very low vaccination rates, if you still believe in that kind of thing. Anyway, I'd love to know your definition of "dangerous". It's early, but right now Omicron seems like a good thing. Very mild symptoms and a great way to build upon natural immunity once exposed. Not seeing the downside here.

The fact is that almost the entire banking industry will be RTO by mid-January so your options are to take the gift of 2 days WFH forever, switch industries, or focus on the small segment of banking that is full time WFH.
But be warned! When you limit your employment options on factors other than compensation, the supply of employment for you goes down, while your demand for it stays the same. That means your price drops compared to where it would have been otherwise.
Why should everyone have to test? The vaccine prevents against serious disease and hospitalization in almost everyone (which should have always been enough). The vaccine is available to pretty much everyone at this point and they can take it if worried. After 3 shots (and probably after 2) omicron is just a cold and delta is mostly prevented.
Let people be accountable for themselves and if someone is immunocompromised maybe make special accommodations where they can be made.

Fauci said the definition of “fully vaccinated” will likely change to include the booster shot. But, the Pfizer CEO is saying that a fourth shot is needed for Omicron.
Just need to test everyone at this point; can’t keep track of all these shots…
Testing should be required of everyone, full stop. I implore people to flood loudspeaker and Town Hall sessions when they allow questions.

You'll get over it. Most people are fairly adaptable but oddly, nobody likes change.
Triple vaxxed here and I’d be more than happy to test weekly, especially if WF is sending the tests to me and I can do them at home.
Can’t wait to sit at my desk wearing a mask all day and sitting next to people infected with who knows what. Right after riding transit packed with people infected with anything/everything for an hour, just to get there. We’ll be less productive and work many fewer hours with the commute time. Obviously productivity is irrelevant to this decision.
Triple vaxxed and found out two days ago I was exposed to COVID while volunteering over the weekend. Got tested, because YES I can still contract COVID and YES I can still pass it along. The vaccine helps reduce my chances of getting it and 1) reduce my viral load, 2) lessen the amount of time I am infected, and 3) reduce the chances of extreme symptoms.
I believe in vaccines, masks, social distancing, AND testing, even for me.

I don't think we know how bad Omicron is at this point.

Scumbags—-all of them. Only point is to drive attrition. Don’t understand why they don’t delay RTO until at least mid February after bonuses clear. Very few will leave before then anyways.

As long as the anti vaxxers refuse to protect public health and allow it to keep mutating, that will be true.
Meanwhile, a lot of other countries have gotten on with their lives because their people are protecting public health.

I bet most of the triple vaxxed people are fine with weekly testing. I'm triple vaxxed and would like to know if I ever get covid so I can make sure to isolate at home and not infect anyone.
I don’t agree much with the anti-vaxers but I do agree they should be testing us all weekly. There will be thousands of us in those buildings and the vaccines are good but not perfect.
The chances of vaccinated people spreading it go up exponentially when you have a sample size as large as ours.
Just wait until the triple boosted folks have to get tested weekly too , that’s what’s coming next not a delay in RTO

OP - I agree with you on all points except that Omicron does not appear to be more dangerous, with the information we have available at this time.

The point, in the Wells Fargo case, for RTO is to drive attrition.
If what you say happens to be true then the attrition will accelerate.
