@k5 The 2001 contract was an extension. It was an extension of the 1998 contract which followed the 3 week strike.

@md Be grateful you are getting a pension. Manager pensions have been frozen for about 10 years now. They aren't accruing. I'm certain you know that right?

Also, if I was management what would I care about pension band increases being frozen near 30 years ago. Do you even know what that is or means?

Hmmmmm. You’re not a bright one. You should read the message thread. That comment was replying to the fool who said the last raises were 2, 2 and1 percent. Simply asking him if they knew what they were. Which he doesn’t. I do since I’ve been getting them d-mb a-s.
@k0 that's funny. The last contract had pay raises. Union members got one in June. It sounds like you are a manager.
@k1 There is a difference between an extension, which this one is vs limited bargaining.
Limited bargaining they pick the parts to discuss.
Extension the contract isn't changed except for pay.
@k4 Health insurance is not contractual and hasn't been since this contract was ratified. Union members pay the same as managers with the same choices.
So the costs will be going up for everyone.
Should have gone for Qwests throat before the salt lake Olympics but cwa rolled over for Joe and his s-b story. Been downhill ever since.
The 98 strike was the last flex by D7. Even then the final agreement was pretty much exactly what was on the table three weeks before walking out. Sc--w over the non-tech bargaining unit. Got the company to make outside tech performance pay voluntary. Which the company came back begging the union to end several years later because it was a money loser for the company.
Union dues are based on wages, but last time D7 wanted more money, they just increased the hours for dues instead of putting more money on my check.
The exact same amount for medical has been taken out of my paycheck for 2.5 years.
But I do expect it to go up with the next contract.
Full bargaining happened after the strike in 98. Definitely was not an extension. Union won the right to cap mandatory overtime at 8 hours per week. Upto that point it was work til the work was done. 60 70 80 hours a week 7 days a week. Scheduled weekends etc. some give backs too. Seems like they had to give us the 22nd straight day off or the 21st. Can’t remember. Sure beat the sh-t out of the Qwest no pay raise years.

By limited I guess you mean the 2 days of negotiations. Extension/limited bargaining is semantics at that point.

Lol…backpeddle backpeddle. So, what were the numbers? Hint…not 2 2 1. Don’t know do you. And healthcare costs didn’t go up 3 years ago. And cola? I can’t remember ever receiving a cola increase and Ive been around since the early 90s. (Maybe there were in the 90s and I didn’t realize it) I’m still pi---d about giving up pension band increases.

They got rid of bargaining for health care a couple contracts ago.

The last contract was not an extension but they had limited bargaining.

Really? Please tell me what were the wage increases on the last 3 year extension. Since you’re not a union member you don’t know. Your statement has already proved that.
@g0 With a contract extension the only thing that will be bargained for are wages.
Health insurance is no longer bargained for. And yes the union was told the company wanted full bargaining. That would have opened up everything in the contract. Not LOAs.

Havnt heard once that either side wants full bargaining. No one wants to go thru thousands of local agreements. Just guessing here since I’m not involved in bargaining but I’d say a 3 year extension at 4, 4, and 3 percent. Small medical increase…company might take a shot at removing the cap on mandatory. Maybe some new language on job titles. I’ve thought all along the company wants this done before this sale. They will reduce body count with techs moving over. Afterwards there’s probably a very small net/broadband tech buyout offer and layoff announcement.
Any prem techs better follow their job. They will all be laid off if they stay with lumen. A 3 year deal will be the window for lumen to unload the rest of mass markets and shift what’s needed to enterprise. Then unfortunately the old baby bell will be laid to rest. But, just the opinion of an old phone guy talking out loud.
It’s not a rumor more to come in the next week or so.

@OP Sounds like an extension and some agreements about the ATT deal. No specifics.

From the emails and texts and calls and meetings it sure seems like the union wants to negotiate. Not much chatter from the company side though. Suspect itll ramp up near the first of the year.
