Citi PIP, Severance?

Hello, so I was Pipped beginning of march from a bad performance review, (4/4/4/3)
And it took them till march to do so. Then I was told they don’t have a notice period for how long

Right now I’m on medical leave, I’m thinking of asking for a separation package? Is this a good move? I plan on framing it very professionally and want to know if since I got such a poor review and a PIP if severance is off the table?

I’m based in Tampa and a AVP

@r6 agree I too feel the same, additionally I feel my resume is like backup for them,I only get notified when the position is closed with another candidate.

You can’t ask for a severance package, that’s not how the selection process works. My advice would be if you still would like to work for Citi then when you return from your medical leave, take the feedback in your performance improve improvement plan to improve your performance in the areas where you’re not satisfactory and be a better employee.

@OP which business / function are you in?

If you got a performance review the company is looking to fire you. Leave and find a company that appreciates you.

@k3

If Rated-4 AND PIP and fired because they were railroaded as having failed the PIP, then No severance.

Employment statistics show that 90% of employees who are Pipped eventually get fired anyway BECAUSE of the PIP.

Stated another way, you have only a 10% chance of beating the PIP.

The company and your managers are looking for any F@rt Bullsh!t absurd reason to fire you anyway. The bar for errors or even perceived errors is much lower than normal.

You so much as sneeze left instead of right, it's a mark against you.

You're better off searching for a new employer.

@k3 If any Rated-4 AND Pips resulted = No severance then no one is obviously posting here and admitting it because such an experience is traumatic, depressing, demoralizing and embarassing.

It seems what you're asking is if an employee was in the midst of a PIP, but was laidoff while they were on the PIP, did the employee get severance?

This question has been asked and answered several times on this site.

If HR said Layoff AND Note HR must communicate the termination as a Layoff Both in writing/email AND orally, HR will need to code the termination as a Layoff on the employees' records.

This means the employees DO get severance even though they were in the midst of a PIP.

@k2 again, did any of these pips result in termination (not layoff) and denial of severance?

@gk this has been the plan since last September/October timeframe because they knew that with the massive layoffs they were planning the severance charge would be high so they've been trying to reduce that where they can. Between dumping piles of work on people and making their lives miserable to force voluntary attrition, they also started writing more 4s and PIPs across the board.

@gx I’m still waiting to here that it’s ACTUALLY happening. All I’ve read are people speculating but I’ve yet to read a post - any post - that said “yes I’ve been pip-ed and denied severance”.

@gk agree also it looks like all the 4 s they're marking as not eligibile for rehire..no one wants to go to back citi but in finance it's part of background check which affect future employment. So yes mass action lawsuit should be the answer

If the “plan” is bullsh-t PIP’s and 4’s, and with the planned cuts, aren’t they opening themselves up to class action lawsuits? With this many PIP and 4’s, it’s looking very suspicious

@fw I would think that the whole reason for PIP to exist, at least these days, is to force you out citing non-performance, so they don't have to pay up. They will pay up when thney let you go via a RIF etc. But when performance issues, real or imagined, they get a reason toi show you the door and only pay you what ytou're owed - salary up until the last day of work, unexpired and accrued vacation time, vested RSU's etc.

@fs I wonder that too…. I wouldn’t see why not?

@fp any chance of severance with PIP?

@fn they said they aren’t hiring anymore. Last hires were 14 months ago. They want to cut, so first they’re pushing out with the workload and PIPping. Layoffs fingers crossed soon. Scared there won’t be layoffs tbh

Crazy, seeks like they need to hire more analysts and reviewerrs. I left in 2021 due to lack of promotions and empty promises. Did everything i was supposed to do. Double crossed too many times. Too many clicks. Too many buddy buddys. Alot of original amlers left and can see why. I see that those that got promoted dodnt run the program right….

@ed yes. B levels are hourly (so analysts, the ones who work cases). C levels are salary (case reviewers and managers). Case reviewers work 50 hours a week and not even eligible for OT. Analysts work free OT just to meet pace. Just be ware. Seriously
