Question of the day. A former Wells employee who was laid off & I were talking. We both wonder why former employees still have on their Linkedin profile that they still work for Wells. We know they do not. In your opinion why would they leave that on their profile? It's one for their record books, but IMO they should update their current employer and move on. You know, "Chop one up for the books." As my former colleague says, there's life outside of Wells. Let it go.

@n5+1jh0cce9h, you hit the nail on the head. LinkedIn is nothing but a social platform filled with egomaniacs who misrepresent themselves by posting highly inflated fake profiles. Many of them are not credible at all, why do we even need to use that cr-p.
A majority of Wells employees especially in Tech hugely misrepresent their experience, education, roles ….this is common.
For example - senior manager in Application security who just turned 50, writes in LinkedIn - he has been senior manager almost 30 years at Wells.
Another junior guy who does multiple jobs in addition to his Wells job, who is in his early 30s, writes he has Program management leadership experience for 20+ years.
This all gets worse with offshore employees who have actually peon like experience and represents themselves as managers,,,
One can go on and on.

Linkedin is a professional site where you can connect with professional contacts. It should be kept current like your resume for the people who are looking for jobs. Some of those prospective employers/contacts may contact you if your job experience impresses them that fits a job opening they have. Save having to explain yourself that your profile isn't current. You guys should not be roasting op. He has valid points.

@ed+1jh0cce9h, Same here. I sometimes feel embarrassed to let my former companies' colleagues know that I work at scandalous Wells Fargo. I got a job at Wells because I had to relocate for my family where my former company was not present. But now I am looking for a new career elsewhere because I can no longer tolerate this environment.
I do the opposite. I am currently working here, but have never added WF as my employer.
One of my old bosses left for medical reasons and I'm never logged back in still says he works for Wells
LinkedIn has turned into Facebook like a snooping tool, it is not your business what people do with their careers.

Many people use LinkedIn to apply for a job because it's popular and they want to use it. But it's still a social media. Some people I know rarely update or visit their own LinkedIn profile because they are not so interested in using it. It's strictly personal choice.

two reasons: recruiters and hiring managers discriminate against unemployed people (fact) and/or people just dont update their linkedin often. there's a leader here whose linkedin still has his old company on it

Some resigned many years ago. Some retired many years ago. But I love the way you think. It's easier to find a job while you're still employed. For sure.
Because it's easier to find a job when you have a job, so why would they want to look unemployed on a professional site like that? Also a lot of people who are let go are on a leave of absence until a certain point in time, so they are technically still employees.
