Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Scared to leave for a startup

I have been presented with a job opportunity from a startup. The role in question aligns quite well with my professional interests. Additionally, the company has offered a base salary that exceeds my current compensation package, but being a startup, they are not currently in a position to offer a bonus scheme. Would it be a mistake to accept this? I’m just curious about what others would do in my shoes.

Went to start up and love it!!! So much innovation and I love that feeling everyday. Instead of being beaten down you got lifted up by working hard. Something chaos but that's a startup and it's still great.

I left for a startup, no regrets and it is a great job with substantially better pay. It is refreshing to not work in corporate he-l.

Conduent isn't a start up, it was a spin off of Xerox. It is run by a bunch of former OFS employees, the CEO was once the head of ETG and Output Solutions. A ton of former Fiserv ETG employees are high level leaders there now. The stock has been cr-p though, but Fiserv's stock hasn't done much since Frank took over either. I will admit though in the last 6 months the stock has gotten back to 2019 numbers at least.

@jol+1lMpzuk6 Uh oh, here comes Shilly to save Frank n Beans bacon!

There is really no risk to leave for a startup, unless you want to move to NJ your career options are severely limited here. If you're remote, forget it they won't even consider you for a real promotion. Not one into leadership anyway.

I'm not sure how somebody who left recently for a startup lost half their life savings, sounds like ol' Shillmeister is getting high on his own supply lol. Unless his life savings from being underpaid at fiserv was like 27 bucks lol.

Do it. I did it in May 2021 and have never once regretted it.

Startups are about being sold or becoming huge. As long as you can tolerate the risk, go for it. Make sure to get equity along with salary.

The great things about startups is that you'll have a voice and they're typically flexible.

It's a lot better than here, that's for sure!

Bad advice from the former Fiserv drones who come here to make themselves feel better because they all made horrible career decisions. I had one call me yesterday -- went to Conduent, said at $6 I will be a millionaire, stock can only go up. Conduent today $3!!! So leaving Fiserv they lost half their life savings. There are plenty of great opportunities at Fiserv for advancement. Show resilience and versatility and stick it out. A very bad time to go to a start up. Capital has dried up for a while.

Why did you even apply in the first place?

You already made the decision. Now you just need to follow through.

If you get any kind of equity then it’s a decent risk. You could always stay for 1-2 years and jump again.

Agree - there is no future at Fis.... eh, Frankserv anymore. Run and do the best you can do.

Go you will never grow at Fiserv. Many of us jumped into a startup years later acquired by Fiserv. Good luck

Take it and don't look back. Even if it's just your first jump, let it give you momentum.
