Thread regarding CVS layoffs

This is round 1 of up to 3

Most people I've heard from have said this is round 1 of up to 3. They really can't say numbers for the remaining layoffs because this first round of laying off 5k will likely mean natural attrition which is exactly what Senior Leadership wants. The more people that leave on their own will means less severance and ultimately more savings to the company.

Bumping this from @djf+1nVUbiNu for info.

Plan is to downsize 25,000

Amount of Money Company will save (Avg Salary +/- $100,000 x 25,0000 = $2.5 Billion)

My group asked directly about other rounds to someone "in the know". as far as the future goes, obviously anything is possible, but...AT THE MOMENT, we were assured this is all that has been discussed

I can’t disclose who informed me for obvious reasons, but I can assure you that this is wave one of three layoffs to come before the end of the year. I’ve been on the Aetna side for ten years and this is the first time I’ve been this stressed about layoffs.

Last layoff, people were given a 2-3 month notice. so if they're given notice in August, then their last day is likely November. I imagine that is where the November thing is coming from.

This is nonsense. While more layoffs may ALWAYS happen there are no additional rounds being secretly discussed.

Until it actually happens, you are right, everything is "rumor mill". But I will also offer this. As the person that wrote the original statement, I have been part of meetings where I know those are facts. Unfortunately, due to not wanting to be let go, I can't give you any more "concrete evidence" of how I know. So, take it for what it's worth, and absolutely take everything you read on this site with a grain of salt. For every truth, there are 10 non-truths.

Unless someone has been in direct meetings with the McKinsey types running this strategy, then anything related to timing, waves, whatever is just rumor. @jnk is spot on

This is truly terrible to be working in fear like this

"Round 1 of up to 3" seems to be rumor mill nonsense. Where is the proof or verifiable source of the claim? We know of 5k layoffs across a vague timeline of "weeks" which have been disclosed as affecting non-customer facing roles.
