Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Going to competitors

I would be paid a little better, but despite everything, it would be very difficult for me to go to work for competitors after the years spent working here.

I would like to hear experiences of those who, after many years of loyalty to this company, accepted an offer from competitors.

@jhlr+1mOloh5Z - Was it a different bank? With all the instability since SVB and First Republic failed I'm looking outside the industry.

I left Truist of 9.5 years for what I thought was a better opportunity. I was offered great money and relocation expense but was reorganized (layoff) in February. Just remember a bird in a hand is always better.

it's time to go, employees are leaving left and right. There is no leadership and there is no culture left. Especially in the commercial bank. No leadership has ever had a real banking job.

24 years with BB&T and Truist. Left for another bank and have never been happier. I want Truist to do well because of stock and pension but that place remains a dumpster fire!

Stay long enough to get vested in the pension and split

"I actually look forward to work"

I simply cannot imagine myself ever saying this. I'm not criticizing you for saying it - I've just never experienced "looking forward to work", ever, in my life. And I'm old.

You owe them nothing. They'll pitch you in a heartbeat if you let them. Be proactive.

I got started at BB&T in 2012 and really enjoyed the culture and the fact that while some of the processes were very old school, it seemed to be that most people cared within the bank. I was a branch warrior but our regional leadership, cluster colleagues, AOOs (save one) all really seemed to care and we worked well together.

Fast forward to about 4 months after the announcement my radar went up and I jumped ship to a different financial institution. It's not without faults and I sometimes miss "old" BB&T but that bank is history.

From what I've gathered most everyone who was in our cluster on the teller, platform, and management lines are gone (except for that one AOO who was on a power trip but no shock there). It's truly sad what happened to a bank that, while I never felt they were family or friends, was a pretty good place to work and most of the clients were pleasant and seemed to appreciate the workers.

Almost 20 years with BB&T/Truist and finally had enough. Took the plunge to go to a different bank and love it! Not that there aren’t problems at the new bank, but I actually look forward to work now. Do what is best for you, but don’t feel bad at all - you owe Truist nothing. Forget about loyalty! Truist has only existed for 4 years

This isn’t a marriage, you make it sound like a job is a cult
