Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Solution to stop layoffs!

A quick fix: all the people that come on here whining about their job or manager quit. Some companies pay people to quit, so should WF. Offer ten weeks severance to anyone within select areas facing reductions to quit. The lazy, the stupid, the underperforming will mostly take the free money and leave those of us who provide value and who enjoy working for the company.

Nice trolling — Cato the OP — or maybe you are clueless – but the workplace is a much more complex ecosystem than you make it out to be.

@cho - and I see lot of young people doing nothing all day long. What makes you think only older employees are slackers? What makes you think people who are at work really work? They are on the internet looking at stock quotes or shopping online all day long. They hang out in the break room or walking aimlessly in the skyway or on their cell. They are not old and lot of them are not even employees. Lot of them have family in India so their morning hours at work are their FaceTime openly and do not even pretend to look busy

To @cho: a couple points I’d like to make: There are plenty of legacy workers at the firm who do work hard and bring an institutional knowledge to the table that you can not. As a boss used to say to me many moons ago “You don’t even know what you don’t know.” The old dog and the new pup both have something to learn from each other.

And, I’m guessing there are plenty of older workers at Wells who would have happily retired years ago if they hadn’t spent all their money feeding, clothing, putting a roof over the heads of and educating their kids who now are declaring people their parents age to be do-nothings.

Just asking you to be fair-minded. I see excellent employees and could-be-better employees of all ages, races, and genders up and down the ladder at Wells. Stereotyping is not a trait that will get you far in life or in your career.

: @snm+16sdF5SF - you are a genius, a savant . Currently we have people with 29, 36 years of WF experience who are absolutely doing nothing of substance and taking their 8 weeks of vacation fully. Such people are the problem. Not the tech or control manager who joined last year in NYC Or Dallas where Wells pair a 10% premium over market .

The worst offenders are the people who are fully WFH for 20+ years who are relatively junior, hidden in the system and cannot be easily dislodged. The reason why they cannot be fired? Their bosses are also in the same category! That is the truth .

This is just a stupid idea. If WF offered voluntary severance, only the good people would take it and leave the company. The slugs would all stay, and continue to draw their paycheck while maintaining their slug-like tendencies.

The goal of the layoffs is exactly the opposite. Get rid of the slugs that are costing the company money. Unfortunately, the way people are, some good people will get caught up in the slug net.

How so? Most of our dead weight is here because we’re a check or welfare source for them with benefit abuse. They’ll follow the path of least resistance, the easy money, and the productive people can keep their jobs an morale will skyrocket
