Accelerated Year end Reviews/ Ratings

So now we must be rated for year end by October 14! We got our goals in March, mode year rating July and now year end is due in a month! Don’t worry though the rating can be changed!

Did anyone get a midyear review that was either unexpectedly glowing or one that was less than expected/deserved? I've talked to a few people who've had this happen and we're wondering if it's connected to the layoffs. I know it sounds paranoid but after getting a over the top review of my work, which I have done the same as the last 5 years it's just making me wonder.

for mid-year reviews managers in my dept. where "encouraged" to reset everyone to a 3. Same thing happened when wells bought Wachovia. Its total b—s—.

Budgets for the following year are approved during October

Here is a preview of how my reviews for my 'employees' will read; "XXX performance is consistent to the feedback provided to XXX on (such and such a date) for their mid-year evaluation. As such, their performance rating remains consistent as well."

To compress the mid-year and year-end timing does not allow for much change. This is a sham process and I won't be expending energy on a check the box exercise.

This is how Bank of America operates. This change has nothing to do with layoffs.

In a recent AMA they said Wells is moving our yearly review cycle to be in line with other banks.

Which may or may not be true.

Updating a review I just updated is a prime example of how poorly this place is run.

Managers who want to change ratings and such have to open an eForm, unless you lied, cheated or stole it’s pretty unlikely that most managers are going to go the trouble.

Most direct managers have no say in lay-off decisions, and the person making that decision is most likely two levels above them, and has no idea what you do or how you do it. They might get numerical information, but are they going to go in and look at the commentary? No.

Year end reviews are required for everyone. don’t assume you’re safe, you could still get notice. Haven’t even heard any big layoffs yet so that will likely happen by October to get employees of the books before year end

Look people, just because the “rating” goes in early October doesn’t mean you get to kick back the rest of the year. HR has specifically said that ratings will remain but comments will be open to adding November/December work or info. So in this world of pending layoffs I would suggest everyone does the best you can, unless you’re hoping for a package. I, for one, am not.

The manager roadmap really has huge chunks of time for stack ranking or “calibration”, a whole month for so called compensation decisions and calibration, and entire month of nothing between December 16 and January 19th. That’s a nice padded performance review schedule that will definitely encourage employees to kick back in the last quarter. Heck, why not?

@inv+16Y8NCIO I wouldn't assume that if they do annual review that you're safe through end of year. They're not going to let on who is being laid off before they're ready to do the layoffs which rumor had those being in October anyway. It could also serve as another data point. Oh, you were 3 at midyear, but your year end probably a 2, etc That would be a horrible thing to do as that sort of rating should never be a surprise.

The whole thing is BS. How the hell do you start self assessment in SEPTEMBER (when we had mid-years like two months ago?). Initial ratings in early October. The flip side is also that with ratings going in around Oct/Nov, you could ease off an not k–l yourself since your rating is pretty much set.

I got my care package consisting of, 3 w.f. masks, hand sanitizer, thermometer, mints, w.f. tumbler and something on a chain all in a convenient cheap backpack. Looks like wells ware had a clean out. I must be safe in my job. No way they'd spend that much on me and then kick me to the curb.

I would think if you're even eligible to do the annual review that means you'll be kept at least until end of year....Thoughts?
