@smo - I don't recall much about the Compaq campus that was Compaq specific. So, though owned, it could have been (and I guess it ultimately was) used for other purposes.

I mean, it was just connected office buildings with big buildings for manufacturing that could be re-purposed for other things.

I miss the old Compaq.

They also said they put employees first...BS. Stock price comes first. So they have to replace us expensive Red Necks with cheap Asians. Hope that works out for ya HPE.

The HPE Houston Site was the Compaq Computer Site those buildings were owned by Compaq. The infrastructure cost to build the sites was Compaq with some taxes / incentives waived by City of Houston.

The Planned new HPE Site in Springwood the buildings will not be owned by HPE. Except for some minor interior tweaks on the "Spec" Building. From a legal perspective there is usually and OPT Out Clause if the decision is not to build / occupy the site.

Change the LOGO and tweak the interior specs again and put any company LOGO up there and you are good to go.

Yeah I know to further reduce cost when Compaq owned the site they eventually sold the rights to Rosen Properties and that company leased back to Compaq.

Not a big deal this was one of the reasons that HPE wanted to move to Springwood as opposed to Waller area like Daikin. Daikin similar to the Compaq Site was able to pay fo the site and infrastructure.

@iib CEO already said they're committed towards making this new building since it sounds like they've already paid the construction and realtor companies their dues.

@iib+15R6gCzs That doesn't mean anything. HP built out a new site at Rio Rancho NM.... that didn't turnout so well. It wouldn't surprise me if HPE changed its mine and forgo opening the new site.
