Now that dust has settled on reorg, the staff reductions are being determined with " how low can we go" focus.

Thanks for the info, OP. Hope you are right, and it doesn't happen around the holidays. Hopefully we will have a vaccine soon and hiring will pick up next year.

Might as well can the whole department.

Any money spent on marketing/advertising right now would be a waste, just like the millions spent on the “re-established” campaign right when more and more scandals were coming to light.

What would we sell, personal relationships with people who will be gone tomorrow?

Our care for the community, as we close branches and kick employees to the curb during a pandemic?

Our great, low-rate home loans and the brutal treatment that comes with having your mortgage with us?

Our name is mud and all the slick ad campaigns in the world won’t change that.

Better to right the ship, THEN start selling tickets for the cruise.

@ifv being "slammed" isn't immunity from layoffs. Besides, there are a lot of ppl in mktg that don't really have enough work to do and create swirl and work to look busy.

There will be a personnel cut in 1st quarter. leadership has been telling their teams openly and word is getting around. If you have any part of the planning process for next year's capacity you've heard the "task" and the size is significant

This all refers to the "consumer marketing" group under M Mack. Other marketing groups that were spun out into the LOBs are on a different schedule (sooner).

Yes she was able to stay in Marketing, she almost had to change out to something else as unemployment ended right before she got something.

The In House Agency - IHA - is better, faster and cheaper than the outside advertising agency. Their Subject Matter Expertise is untouchable. They prove their worth every day. They will be bigger than ever next year as more and more work is brought inside. The news is not all bad. Good things are happening.

@zfq Glad your wife found something! I hope it was not too big a strain on finances during her downtime. I know unemployment helps some but sometimes not enough. Was she able to stay in marketing?

My wife works in Marketing and was laid off from another company in March. Took her 6 months to find something. It’s tough out there, and that is what she’s heard from others who had the same fate as her.

I’m sure this is probably true and no one knows for sure exact date. But I think if you get cut it’s important to remember your career is not over. If you’re a good worker you’ll get picked up somewhere else and there are plenty of jobs to be had. It may take time. I may even get cut but I look at searching for a job as a job. Do your best everyday you are here. That way if it does happen to you and you get displaced, you’ll walk out with your head held high.

There are people in marketing who have skated for years. Pity them if they have to get real jobs.

Not impossible – it's quite real.

2021 budgets being set, prioritization occurring, then resource needs will determined.

Demand may currently be high in certain buckets, but it's shifting among existing and new buckets.

MLT and others holding numerous meetings, and layoff discussions are taking place.

Don't say I didnt tell you about Q1 2021...
