Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Severance

If Nike provided better severance, especially to those of us who've been here for over a decade, I'd have no issues with being laid off. Actually, I would most likely volunteer in that case and I bet a lot of others would also use that as an opportunity to leave. Sadly, there's no chance of that happening.

HR loves this platform. I’m sure they’re the ones claiming they have an amazing package.

Self-Fluffers. The whole lot of them.

To whoever still thinks that Nike severance is "very good"... Here is an example of severance packages at Discord, and it's not even the biggest tech player:

  • Five months of salary (plus an additional week for every full year at Discord)
  • Five months of benefit continuation
  • Three months of outplacement services
  • Equity vesting of awards scheduled to vest on Feb. 1, 2024
  • Continued access to Modern Health through the end of 2024, and more

And the layoffs there were not secretly arranged neither secretly announced, neither dr-gged on in the same secret way for months.

@1mlo Until everything they do is outsourced to lower cost places because the job can be performed “remotely”.

Ignore @pug, they are some GT person who has no understanding of how other jobs work

@pug+1qp5G6Up so what, exactly, are my options then?

You should never move for a job. Time to evolve past Boomer Logic of trusting corporations and billionaires.

@syv+1qp5G6Up there aren’t a ton of jobs in the area if you work in product.

For those of us who took a risk to leave our last companies and MOVE our families, being laid off could be a career ki-ler, especially if we aren’t able to move again.

If you've been at nike over a decade, your severance package will be great. you should be hoping for a layoff.

@ibt+1qp5G6Up Get in touch with someone you know who was laid off. Check in, ask how they are doing. They will likely share (vs out their business on a public forum).

What exactly is the package?

@bnx+1qp5G6Up I was laid off, and from what I can see it depends on job grade and years of service (in blocks). 45 and above have the best and it maxes at 20 years of service.

I’m not sure if that’s standard across the board or my area only.

Looks like it changed in 2023.

Some companies offer a month per year. Did Nike severance change and the company now offers the same and I missed it?
