Thread regarding SAS Institute layoffs

Bonuses/Raise predictions.

Let’s hear bonus/raise predictions for 2026….

My prediction
Healthy bonuses
High performers - 15%
Moderate performers - 8%
Low performers - 3%

Low inflationary raises for older high earners regardless of performance
Youngish high performers - 10-15%
Youngish moderate performers - 5-6%
Youngish low performers - inflationary

Thanks for sharing! For me, I received a ~15% raise due to promotion last year (2025), and was also very fortunate to receive a bonus ~10%. From what I've heard from other folks 15-20% is around the general range of what I've seen for promotions.

I work in R&D FWIW, I imagine other teams like sales will have a different pay structure.

I received a ~20% raise with promotion in 2024 and no raise last year.

I'm curious if anyone would have estimates for promotions (in % or otherwise) and how they compare to bonuses and raises? Personal anecdotes from my more senior colleagues on their experiences would also be appreciated.

Have received a promotion before so I'm aware of a general range but curious to know what other folks have received.

We don't think often enough about the laid-off folks. There are over 1,000 of them, but they rarely post here. Probably most are trying to forget about SAS.

I know one husband-and-wife pair of former employees. He retired; she got laid off. He visits SAS occasionally to have lunch with friends. She won't go near the place.

The people who have been laid off and have not found an equivalent job, would most like trade places with the still employed who are speculating raise/bonus.

Give it a rest and go back to work at your SAS job. When you get laid off, you will have earned the street cred to be commenting on this site.

@k4 You guys are ki-ling me. This seems like some AprilFools joke.

I did say predictions…

And the idea that this crowd is above wildly making stuff up without any basis is solid Twilight Zone material.

And there actually is a basis given historical behavior coupled with last year financial results which were discussed.

Retired member of management here.
Your speculations are just that, speculations. SAS rightfully has a history of being closed lipped about raise and bonus percentages.

Speculations will become more accurate once raise and bonus deployment happens. Even then, speculations are based upon fertilization of the gossip mill.

Sit tight and be grateful for whatever amount you get. Anything is greater than nothing. If not happy, then get out in the job market to learn what it is willing to pay for your skill set.

The expectation that rank and file employees would have insight into bonuses and raises is really sketchy IMHO.

I would likewise think ang management with such knowledge doesn't seem willing to share, which is easy to understand.

I mean, we could all just speculate and conjure up answers, but based on what?

My expectations are slim to none, with some amount of generosity being extended to high performers, or those that are able to keep a favorable spotlight upon themselves. (These are not always the same group, but there are exceptions)

@hy

I agree. It’s a puzzler. Was there an internal gag order? It wouldn’t surprise me.

@h9 a little bit to be honest.

It is a topic I know this crowd is interested/fanatical about. Never heard so much silence here.

The lack of negativity excluding downvotes and secret love children is astounding.

I know you have more in you. Bottling it up?
