Has anyone received a meeting invite the day before they were laid off or is it usually day of spur of the moment type meeting?

I was fortunate and saw a meeting was scheduled, as opposed to colleagues that got the 'Do you have a second' IM..... and got whacked that fast.
Cheers!
Displaced today with no advance notice or meeting invite. Manager came by desk in person 10am ET on Tuesday after payday like clockwork. Wasn’t my first reaction but as soon as I looked at my watch I was like yep, all those stories on the timing of the grim reaper visits are true.
Depends on your manager. Mine IMed me to join a call and that was that. Then I IMed my team to join a call with me to tell them. Then I logged out and had the best day ever lol (and am still having the best days ever being unemployed. Hang out for severance!!!!!)
Similar to @hjf+1uxf3rah - Scheduled late Monday, call next morning at 10 AM
Yes-ish.
I was still working from home and my laptop logged all the time. I was passing through the dining room for a drink one Wednesday night and checked my email, and lo and behold there was a vague meeting invite for 8:30 Thursday morning.
So, mimosa Friday came early and I was pleasantly whacked.
Cheers!
Transparency with location strategy varies tremendously, depending on group, and whether a relocation was offered. In my case, I wasn't offered relocation, and got the Tuesday invite on Monday.
Meeting scheduled late Monday evening for Tuesday morning
My boss rescheduled my Thursday meeting to Tuesday, though it is in afternoon
if you don't hear anything by NOON EST your safe for that round. They want the whackings wrapped up by 2pm EST so they can prepare for the nightly satanic rituals.
In the case of a location strategy layoff it’s likely not a secret so scheduling is no big deal. The layoff su-ks, to be clear, but scheduling is the least of it.
My friend was laid off with no notice on a last minute meeting at 10 am on a tuesday.
Mine have been on layoff Tuesday for a while now. Sketchy.
My manager changed our 1:1 meeting from Friday to 9am on Tuesday the day prior. That's how I knew.
Can be either.
