Will they layoff big techies? My guess is they are more expensive too.

@gd Yes... that is almost all of BP who got laid off and job sent to India. July 31st is my last day and work in Customers &Products division. I heard they laid off all the Marketing team for Arco AM/PM last week out of the blue. No had a clue.

UK line managers have received an email today saying that notification window is 16-20 June.

But it also says line managers don't get access to outcome information until the window opens, and it recommends spending the first day preparing. So dear reader don't expect your outcome to be known to you until 17th at the earliest

@nc @h4 @h2 makes you wonder if they are cutting 40-65% why stop there. Maybe ship the whole of technology to BTCs including the C suite positions. I think 99% will make a statement....bunch of #$$....es

Don’t worry everyone Infosys and India to the rescue! Well when that fails they will blame the employees again. The boots on the ground people in technology are great hard working people. The leadership and middle management is absolutely terrible yes men with zero backbone. That’s why you see such ineffective projects because they are bending to whoever is in charge and since 2021 we’ve had new leaders every 6-12 months. But this company also completely disregards its valuable technology employees as unnecessary cost. I’m talking about the infrastructure, network, data type employees not the techbro worthless ones.

'technology' also includes applied sciences (i.e all/most of BPs labs and science capability, Castrol etc),

The problems in technology are multilayered unfortunately. Probably the biggest issue is people: there are many layers of ‘talkers’ which empire build and ultimately deliver nothing. There are literally armies of people who have been brought in by these talker middle managers to build ‘products’ (which are PowerBI dashboards in most cases) which won’t add any value or add to bps bottom line. Then we have vanity projects such as ‘AI’ where we are building more cr-p chat bots which are fed cr-p data and we have hired F-level ‘AI’ folks (because they built some lame duck AI process at some middling tech company) on mid six figure salaries to sit fully remotely with zero understanding of the O&G business. Emeka is doing OK but there is still a load of cr-p he is letting VPs get away with and loads more that he hasn’t optimised: again there are 10s of highly paid people cheerleading while a couple of hands on tech folks do the actual work. End rant

@c9 Technology includes many different departments that do an array of different things, so your sweeping generalisation is not helpful. Granted some changes made during BLs
tenure were a waste and simply failed. However, many departments in Technology deploy and maintain critical technology that you simply could not operate without in most roles (I.e. various critical applications, your laptops, meeting rooms tech, all your Microsoft applications like teams, email - the list goes on and on). You are doing a disservice to the countless employees in Technology that literally enable you to work each day. Perhaps if all of this tech was taken away you’d realise.

A lot of smart hard working people will lose jobs because of LAR appointment as EVP. It amazes me how much penalty is being paid by workers while executives claim innocence and continue with their lives without disruption.

Another one of BL's dreams about being like Amazon, Google and Apple. He hired all these folks and they don't know what to deliver. They develop useless Apps an programs that either don't work or interface well. The company portal on our mobile phones haven't developed any useful apps. The only response you get when asking for help is to submit a SNOW ticket. When they finally respond they tell you to contact somebody else.
